I have run out of inspiration for my first Fan Fiction, but then I got inspired to do a Fan Fiction on Sybil and Tom during Series 2. So here you go the first chapter. I will put more up on If they lived soon and thank you for all your kind comments they do mean an awful lot to me.
29th September 1917
Finally! Tom had got the engine running. All day he had been working on the engine and finally he had got it working. He was quite pleased with himself, it's a shame he gets no praise. Above the roar of the engine, Tom heard the click of heels. He didn't have to turn around to see who it was, he knew by the sound of her footsteps.
"I knitted you that scarf you wanted," Sybil called above the roar of the engine.
Tom fiddled about then, turned it off. He turned around to see Sybil looking as beautiful as ever in her Nurse's uniform.
"Its not exactly the best I can do," Sybil continued, "but I've been so busy lately and I wanted you to get it before the winter, so it has a few bobbles in."
Handing over the scarf, their hands touched and Tom felt a surge of electricity flow through his body. He held the blue scarf in his hands and smiled.
"Its perfect," he smiled.
"Its not really I…" Sybil sighed.
"Stop Sybil. You made it for me. Nothing can be more perfect than that in my eyes."
Smiling, Sybil grabbed the scarf and winded it around Tom's neck, laughing.
"There," she said proudly, "it looks brilliant."
For a moment all Tom could do was to stare into Sybil's eyes, until he realised that the scarf was making him feel very hot. Well maybe it wasn't the scarf, but any way he was hot, so he untwined the scarf from his neck.
It was very awkward, nobody knowing what to say.
"When do you have your next day off?" Tom asked, "that sounds so strange to say to a lady."
Sybil laughed.
"I have the afternoon off on the 3rd of October," Sybil said, "but I can't expect you to wait for yours or put it forward so its longer till you have your next."
"You know I'd do anything for you Sybil. I've waited long enough for you to run away with me and I'll wait 10 more years."
Cautiously, Sybil reached out her hand to Tom's. He looked at her his blue eyes wide and surprised.
"I can't run away with you now, I have my duties to help the war effort," Sybil explained, "but Tom I'm not saying no. I think when the war ends I will have no purpose and my only purpose will be…"
Tom looked at her. This was the news he had been waiting for. Was she finally prepared to take him as her husband, to live the rest of his life with him, no matter what the consequences, even if her family cast her out.
"Oh good lord is that the time?" Sybil gasped.
"The classic excuse," Tom laughed pulling away from her.
"I'm not making excuses Tom, its just I can't be late for dinner. I have an evening shift so I'll see you tonight."
"You just can't keep away from me can you?" Tom laughed folding his arms across his chest and raising an eyebrow.
Sybil sighed and rolled her eyes.
"Your incredible," she laughed.
Tom sauntered over to her, looking very seductive.
"I'm glad you think so," he whispered.
