All she could do was smile. She had never felt this way. Her stomach felt like it had butterflies in it, and every time he glanced at her, she blushed profusely.

Pyne was in love with Erhard Muller.

She wanted to deny it. She wanted to rip him from her life, to be in Aperture, to just test all day long. She even wanted to see Nick, though he could be a bit annoying during tests.

But she couldn't. He was everywhere; He helped her with physical therapy, he looked over her charts, he got her meals, he sat with her while she slept; he was always with her.

And she loved it.

"Doctor Muller?" she would ask.

"Yes?"

"Can you walk me around the garden again?"

"Why do you like the garden so much?" He would ask, chuckling and sitting on the bed.

And she would go off, explaining how Aperture Science was all metal and plastic, and how she hadn't seen a real flower since she was 6. Almost 13 years. And he would always agree, and off they would go, him explaining the flowers with a dazed, glassy look in his eyes, and she would listen and learn.

But that wasn't the case today. When he walked in the door, he had a glassy look in his eyes, and looked like he could cry.

"Doctor?" she asked, pushing her left leg against her right to make some room for him.

"Pyne? Would you… Come with me, just for today?" he said, looking up at her. She nodded, and soon she had on something a little more stylish and a lot less comfortable than her work outfit; a dress.

He had put her in a dress.

It was pretty simple- It cut off at the knees, and came to her elbows. He rolled the sleeve on her left arm up so the bandage wouldn't get pushed down. He even managed to get one black heel on her.

Arm-in-arm, he led her to his car. The drive was completely silent, and Pyne thought it was a miracle when they pulled up to the cemetery. It was almost empty except for a bright white tombstone with pale pink flowers all over it.

"Doctor, I…"

Erhard slowly reached out and touched her arm lightly. She froze, not knowing what he was going to do. She could see the pain in his eyes, his hard past projected onto a blank slate.

"Pyne…" He said. His voice had some sorrow and some longing in it. "Don't leave me… Don't ever leave me…"
