title: Forever, only a day
summary: . . . can some one just write this for me? thanks.
disclamer: not mine, obviously (where in the canon world has poetry come into it?)
hope you like it, please review, critique and comments are wonderful
Forever, only a day
So long ago we were friends
Now we're barely anything at all
We ran far, from each other
And everything that entailed
Sometimes
while we hid from the other
I'd think of something
only you would get
or care about
just to remember
that you're not here
been in the brig again
been promoted once more
I waited for you to appear
and bail my butt out
of my latest troubles.
I waited for you to come
screaming round the corner
To tease me and then
to say I deserved it.
both of us waiting
just going through the motions.
Waiting for two years
Till fate had had enough
Now here we are
Are we friends? Are we soldiers?
Ranks, a divider of friendship
The banter is coming back
As if the time apart was never there
The things unspoken
The death, the inadequately dealt with grief
Maybe this time we won't hurt the other
Maybe this time things will turn out right
And we'll stay friends
Forever, though it may last only a day.
