Here is my Percy Jackson/The Host crossover fanfic! Enjoy!
Chapter 1:
Percy's POV
I wake up with Annabeth huddled against me. I sigh and twirl her hair around my fingers, but I don't wake her up. We've been through so much and I'm positive she needs sleep.
I look around the damp alley we're staying in and cringe at a memory. Last night was awful. We lost him.
I nervously fiddled with my fingers, waiting with everyone else in the car for Piper and Jason to walk out of the store.
I noticed that the rest of our group was just as anxious. Hazel was chewing her nails feverishly, Leo was tapping his knuckles on the car door in the same pattern, over and over, and Annabeth's leg wouldn't stop shaking. Only Frank, who looked slightly annoyed at all the unnecessary noises coming from the four ADHD demigods, was still, only throwing nervous glances out the window.
Jason and Piper were the best ones to go in, we figured. Their eyes were the only ones that remotely appeared to have a faint silver ring around them, besides Annabeth's. But there was no way in Hades I was letting her go in there.
We weren't exactly sure where we were, but there was an awful lot of desert so we figured we were near the west coast.
Finally, they emerged from the store, but something wasn't right. They were walking weird. Their footsteps seemed stiff and forced. Piper looked anxious and Jason kept looking over his shoulder.
"Guys?" I started to say. "There's something wrong-"
Then I saw the Seekers' cars.
"They're here!" I yelled, alarmed. Frank jumped up and started the car, immediately.
"Get Piper and Jason!" I said. "Quick! Drive!"
Frank pressed his foot on the gas pedal, sped towards Piper and Jason, and screeched to a halt.
I threw open the door.
"They're here," Piper hissed. "Hurry!"
She jumped in and urged Jason to hurry. Jason tried to get in when three pairs of arms grabbed him.
"Jason!" Piper yelled.
"Go!" he choked. "Get out of here while you can!"
"No!" Piper cried.
Jason was right. If we had any chance of getting out of here, we would have to go now. But we couldn't…
"Frank!" Jason shouted. "Be brave! Drive!"
Frank, gripping the steering wheel, nodded and slammed on the gas pedal. We sped forward, with Piper screaming horrible things and Leo yelling, leaving the son of Jupiter behind.
I look past were Frank and Hazel are sleeping, to where Leo has an arm around a silently crying Piper. I look back at Frank, who keeps muttering in his sleep.
"I don't want to be brave. I don't want to drive."
I look down.
I honestly can't think right. As a demigod, I should be used to totally bizarre things happening. But an invasion where aliens take over the minds of mortals, demigods, and gods alike? This is a definite first.
Mortals and gods alike… Mom. Dad. Paul. Grover. All the campers. No word about Tyson. And now… Jason, too.
I suddenly can't take it anymore. I bury my face in my arms and cry. I feel pathetic. I'm supposed to be a leader. I'm supposed to be strong. But I can't be. I can't be strong again.
Annabeth wakes up, abruptly. She looks around and notices me crying.
She puts a hand on my arm.
"Percy?" she asks me tentatively.
"Everything," I choke out. "Everything's falling apart."
"Percy-" she starts.
"Aren't you wondering what's happened to them? Your mom? Your family? Chiron?"
"Of course I am, Percy, but I-we just have to keep hope."
"Hope of what?" I demand. "That the Souls will just all vanish and everything will great again?"
"What else can we believe?"
So that's the first chapter. I actually wanted to cry while writing this. Poor Piper. And Percy. And Jason. And basically everyone.
I will have them meet the Host characters soon, though.
Buh-Bye!
