HINT: this takes place during book 4(Battle of the Labyrinth) One-shot
Once plush hallway came and went in a blurred as I raced to the presidential suite. I kept my bitter anger and confusion welled up inside me as I turned a corner into the grand and empty room. The sight of my blood-thirsty and fearless ranks tormented me. They were going to run Camp half-Blood to the ground. And me? Let's just say I wouldn't be around to see the fun in action.
I punched a mirror on the wall. Shards flew everywhere and blood seeped through my torn skin onto my fist. I paced the room.
What was I thinking? Had I gone eternally mad? No. You are doing what is best for the world. Creating a better world. That was what you wanted, right? A better world without the gods. I countered myself.
I turned towardsthe golden casket. Not long until Camp is burned to the ground. Not long until I will sacrifice myself for Kronos to rise. Not long until my friends die.
My friends. My family.
Thalia had betrayed me. Annabeth had betrayed me. Didn't they see I was doing it for them? Doing it for all the troubles the gods had given us? They just didn't understand did they? I shook my head.
But that didn't stop me from caring what happened when that wretched camp would fall. WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ME? I don't want for them to die. Just the people who made life for me miserable.
But this is the way it must go. If you save one, you save all. They had refused in the end. I must go on without them. It is their loss in the end.
A picture stirred from beneath the bed. I reached down and scooped it up. It was a picture of a young curly, blond haired girl. Her eyes sparkled and her toothy smile had a hole in it. A older girl with spiky black hair and a ripped black jacket had her arm around the little girl's shoulder. Thalia and Annabeth. It was an old picture taken back when they were on the run; taken with a Kodak disposable camera I had bought from a local pharmacy with extra money they had. I sighed and turned towards the green ever-burning fireplace and tossed it in.
