For those who loved my Itahina stories of Goodbye and Recall, I decided to do you all a welcome back story of having a third installment. Hope you enjoy it. Also, now that I've found out what happened to Itachi- which by the way is BS- I've decided to have this be another goodbye story. Sorry.
Hinata didn't know what to say. Itachi was standing there, dressed in a dark cloack with red clouds, and his dark eyes intense but caring. He also cut his hair, which Hinata thought looked good on him.
"I-Itachi...?"
Itachi kneeled in front of her and gave her a kind smile, "Yes, it's me, and what am I being thanked for?"
Hinata's voice was caught in her throat and she found herself embarassing. What was with her and awkard situations?
"I-I was just thanking you for what you've done for me." Hinata admitted and gave Itachi a shaky smile, "I didn't think you'd be here."
Itachi placed a hand on her cheek, "I didn't think so either, but something's coming up, so I needed to see you, one more time."
Hinata froze and looked up. Gone was Itachi's smile, and now replaced by a serious frown. Carefully, he had placed his other hand on her other cheek and leaned in so their foreheads were touching. His touch was as gentle as Hinata remembered and she couldn't help but feel tears prick her eyes. She placed a hand on his and tried to look into his eyes, but the positon made it difficult.
"You've certainly grown," Itachi commented, "I'm not surprised you became this beautiful."
Hinata blushed again, but not as hard, "Well, I can see you've gotten taller."
Itachi only chuckled and pushed himself back a bit, "I take it you had heard what happened that night, right?"
Biting her lower lip, Hinata nodded, "I...there was a good reason, right?"
Itachi only nodded himself and then pulled Hinata into a hug, "Just like there's a reason why I have to say goodbye this time."
"What?" Hinata choked out, seeing tears forming in Itachi's eyes.
"Hinata...I..." Itachi sighed heavily and pulled her into a hug, "I'm not surprised, I'd cry over you."
"Itachi..."
"I wanted to see you one last time." he said again.
"What's going on?" Hinata found her own tears coming out.
"I'm leaving, for good," Itachi finally confessed and then laid a kiss on her head.
"Why?" Hinata couldn't tell if it was her or Itachi shaking this time.
"I can't explain it," Itachi said, "But, please, do me a favor, don't hate him."
"Hate who?"
"Promise me, you'll help him come home."
"Itachi..."
"Please." Itachi's voice actually cracked there.
Hinata looked up, her own tears streaming down and her heart cracking. She knew who he was talking about. Sasuke, that name had been something of mix feelings for her. He was Itachi's younger brother, the only one he had left of him, but the way Sasuke would loathe at the sound of Itachi's name caused a tinge of anger towards him. She was even honest in saying that she was more worried for Itachi than Sasuke when she heard that Sasuke had finally left the village to gain power against Itachi.
"I-I promise." she whispered.
Itachi smiled slightly and kissed her forehead, "Thank you," once again, Hinata found herself in his embrace. She gripped his cloak in a hope that he wouldn't leave again. That this wasn't the final goodbye. She had even tried to stay awake, but the warmth and sound of his heartbeat was lulling her.
"Hope you find happiness," was Itachi's muddled words, "Goodbye Hinata." and soon enough it was dark.
That didn't turn out the way I wanted, but hey, I tried and kind of cranked out three chapters of Downpour and now suffereing slight burnout. Hope you enjoy it as you did the others.
