Written for the Five Senses Challenge with the following prompts: greasy, mold, "Twister" (Delta Rae), candy apple, and a setting that I can't hyperlink.
their birthplace is a tiny shop
of molding sheet music and old records
classic rock and recent pop
for sale
she is perusing a stack of lps
he chasing his furthest goals
(by that he means his broken dreams
but still)
he is never sure why he went in
(muggle music = not his thing)
something about her grin
or fate
and somehow he's understood
that what he has called his "purpose"
of doing the world some good
is wrong
maybe he doesn't need to show them all
that what they say is false is true
if they don't believe, it's not their fault
she does
they exchange names and meet again
a week later in peru
crowds of women and men
and her
he is fingering a greasy chip
and she taking a bite of caramel apple
when he realizes it
it's love
no girl will ever be more beautiful than she
so he asks for her vow, which she gives
and from then on they chase their dangerous dreams
as one
