[PAIGE'S POV]
Paige ran through the parking lot, her head in her shaking hands. Did she really just do that? Did she kiss Emily Fields, the girl who she'd wanted for so long? The girl who hated her more than anything in the entire world? The redhead shook her head in disbelief, and felt tears burning in the back of her eyes. She was so embarrassed.
Embarrassed for the fact that Emily would never love her back, and that she had expressed such inappropriate feelings. Embarrassed for her family, who didn't deserve such a screw-up of a daughter.
If only she could accept herself the way Emily could.
Gosh. It is easy for her, she thought.
Sure, her mother hadn't been too fond of her daughter's sexual preference, but Paige's parents would burn her at the stake if they ever found out about her true feelings. Due to this, Paige tried her hardest to push her emotions and attractions deep beneath her tough-girl exterior, and did anything to make sure they didn't come bubbling back up.
But, she had let her guard down for only a second, and it had ended her up here.
How could she have been so stupid? Emily had a gorgeous girlfriend – not to mention she could barely be in the same room as Paige. She let one tear spill over as she began to unlock her bike, and the redhead wanted to kick herself. No emotions, Paige! She thought. Repress, repress, repress.
But for a split-second, Paige let her mind linger back to the kiss, and how it'd made her insides turn to mush. Having Emily's lips against hers was the most at peace she'd been in God knows how long. Even still, she once again shook the image out of her mind, and straddled the seat of the bike. As she began to pedal, she took a fleeting glance in the direction of Emily's car.
She could've sworn she saw Emily holding her fingers to her lips through the front window.
[EMILY'S POV]
Emily had never been so surprised in her life – Paige McCullers, aka Pitbull Paige, had kissed her.
The brunette girl's eyes remained wide, once hand gripped to the steering wheel, the other's fingers on her lips. She hated to admit it, but the kiss had left this strange tingling feeling – a feeling she'd never experienced with Maya.
Once she realized this, she flung her other hand back to the steering wheel, trying to ignore the butterflies in her stomach. Now she finally knew why Paige was the way she was. She was only trying to impress her ridiculously homophobic parents.
Now that Emily knew this, she felt like an idiot for not seeing the signs before.
The constant insults, the claims of hatred toward herself, the homophobic parents, the need to impress those around her. Paige obviously felt as though if she were a winner, it would help balance out the 'good and bad' inside of her. Once Emily thought about this some more, she realized Paige was practically a walking gay-pride parade.
The olive-skinned girl put her key in the ignition and twisted it sideways, clearing her throat. Should she call her? No. It's best for us to forget it ever even happened, Emily thought to herself. Never has to be talked about again. Instead, she'd have a completely regular night.
Tonight, she would go home, eat dinner with her mother, go to her room, and call Maya.
She'd forget the incident that occurred earlier that night in the parking lot.
Or she'd at least try to.
