The Yearly 365 Challenge
Prompt #281 (Trait) Athletic
"GO RIVERDALE!" Screamed the fans up in the foot ball stands. "BEAT SOUTHSIDE!"
"BEAT RIVERDALE!" Screams were heard on the opposiot side of the playng filed. "BEAT RIVERDALE! BEAT RIVERDALE! BEAT RIVERDALE!"
Fred rolled his eyes underneath his helmet as he glared across the filed where the Southsiders were lined up ready for another play. "God I hate playing homegames with Southside." He looked over at his best friend. "I mean they don't go this crazy when we play at Southside."
Hal shrugged. "Southsiders have always been that way when they have to come to Riverdale. You know this ever much as I do Freddie." He sighed as he looked at the banner on the southside with "DOWN WITH RIVERDALE! RIVERDALE IS NOT THE TOWN WITH THE PEP." He sighed. "Really wish that Southside didn't have any sporting teams at their schools."
"At lease we always beat the Southside." Fred growled as he looked across the stand of Southside fans. His eyes found the bouncing cheerleaders and he frowned darkly. He started to walk towards them. But Hal quickly put his hand to hold Fred back. "Don't Fred." He pushed Fred forward towards their line. "We need to get the play going."
Fred shook Hal's hand off his shoulder. "Don't ever do that again Hal." He growled fire licking up his eyes.
"We just have a few more minutes left in the game. Then you can go over." Hal barked.
Fred angrly shook his head and turned back to his team. His mind was still locked firmly on seeing Alice chatting it up with the Southside cheerleaders. How dare she do this. She fully knew that she couldn't be seen talking to anyone for the rival team at a home game. He would be having some heated words with his girlfriend after the game was over.
….
Mary felt Fred's heated gaze on the back of her head. She rolled her eyes as she turned around to meet his angry gaze. She smiled at the teen next to him. "Good game Hal."
"Thanks Mar." Hal managed to get out. He sighed as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"You know better than to be seen talking to those Southsiders Mary. Especially at a home game." Fred growled out his arms folded across his chest.
A tight line made its way on the seventeen year old girls lips. "If my parents don't have a problem with me associting with anyone on the Southside Fredrick; then you my boyfriend shouldn't have either. After all we are just dating … we aren't married. We aren't related." Mary lifted her head high. "You don't get a say on my life Fredrick Andrews."
Fred calmed down. He breathed in. "You are right Mary I don't have a say on your life. I was just upset to find you on the rival's side during one of our home games."
"Sides it's not like I go to the Southside like you do." Mary's right eye brow rose high.
"That's different." Fred burst out.
"How is that different?" Mary demanded.
"Your parents would never allow you to go anywhere near Southside … even if Hal and I were by yourside." Fred pointed out.
"That's the whole point here Fred. I'm trying to prove that not all Northsiders are against Southsiders. I'm trying to build up our towns relations in the only way that I can. Even if that means publically going to the rival side at any athletic event held at Riverdale High."
