A/N: First fanfic. Hope you like. Just a little idea I got when I was bored. Criticism welcome.

"Welcome to Princeton, the local time is three o' clock in the afternoon, the weather is not as bright as we hoped it to be but we hope you enjoy your stay and hope to have you travel with us again." The flight attendant droned on about the weather and some places you could stay, but Erika knew where she was going.

The airport was crowded with people. She slipped in between the crowds of friends and family carrying her luggage with her. It wasn't much, but it was enough for her. A few clothes, a few personal items, and a hundred dollars she had saved for this very occasion. Standing in the cold winter air she waved down a taxi. The yellow car stopped abruptly in front of her. "Thank you."

"You're a little young to be traveling alone." The driver said expressing his concern for the young girl

"Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital please." She said ignoring his statement.

"Okay, miss." And he began to drive through the gray city of Princeton. Each building looked the same to her as they passed each one. She counted the number of buildings they passed when they reached a red light. "May I ask what you're doing here in a big city by yourself?"

"I'm visiting some family." She said giving the man a small smile. "How much longer until we get to the hospital?"

"Oh, about ten minutes." He looked back at her "Don't worry; I'll get you there before dark."She looked out her window at the gray foggy skies. She could hardly believe it was only three in the afternoon, everything was so dull and bleak. The light turned a bright green and the yellow taxi took off. She became lost in her thoughts when the car came to a stop "Do you want any help with your bags?"

Erika looked back at the driver. "Oh, no thank you." She said pulling out her suitcase "But here's your money." She handed him fifteen dollars and shut the door behind her. So this was the hospital everyone was talking about it didn't look any different than any other hospital, but it was the doctors inside she needed. The walls were painted a dull green and everyone was walking around in scrubs. Walking up to the reception desk the girl slid her bag over her head and onto her other shoulder.

She walked up to the desk and waited for someone to notice her. "Excuse me can I help you?"

"I'm looking for Dr. Allison Cameron. Do you know where I can find her?"

"Dr. Cameron is very busy." The doctor said without looking up from her papers

"Please, it's important. I need to speak to her." Her voice was urgent. The nurse looked at the poor girl and assumed the worst.

"You can look in the ER; if she isn't there then I don't know where she went off to." The ER was filled with people, and doctors running around. She spotted a blonde female doctor, she looked nice enough. Maybe she knew where Dr. Cameron was. "Excuse me." She said walking up to the doctor. "Can you show me who Dr. Cameron is?"

"I'm Dr. Cameron." The blonde smiled at her. "How can I help you?" She looked at the young teen and her bags of what were most likely her only possessions. Her smile was warm and inviting like one a mother would have, but she looked too young to be a mother.

"My name is Erika Kalfleisch."

"Do you have a family member in the ER?" Cameron asked

"My mother told me to find you."

"Is she okay?" Cameron asked in concern looking at the small girl.

"My mom died three weeks ago." There was a pause between the two girls "She told me to find you," Erika took a deep breath as if she were going to plunge into a cold pool. "Because you're my godmother."
