Lavi is a man who stands outside of time.

Age may one day turn his hair silver, and dry and crack his skin, but not matter how touched his body is by his life, time will never be able to reach his heart. His heart is shut, doors locked and key trusted to the mysterious archives where thousands of years of records lay hidden. No matter how many years that passes, he will not be moved by them.

He has sacrificed his own self to be able to see clearly, though he has begun to sense that there might be something missing in the complete picture. However, Lavi may not be able to see beyond the picture painted by detailed logs, and he may not be moved by the lives that pass him by, but he can at least see them.

Kanda is a man who stands outside of life.

Around him, people move about, relationships are built, experiences are made. Children are born – old men dies. Before Kanda's eyes, they all seem so insignificant, it all seems pointless. To Kanda, the world is a place waiting for death, already wrapped in the white flowers of its own funeral.
