The first time they met, she was his pupil, bright to him as she was beautiful. Hair and eyes flecked with gold, she was a magnificent catch.

Like a moth to a flame, he was drawn to her.

The second time they met, he was her supervisor, as old-fashioned as ever. Heart fluttering, she heard, felt a smile as she tasted the sweet nectar of his presence.

Like a moth to a flame, she was drawn to him.

The third time they met, they were their reflections, oppressed yearning gnawing at their fingertips. Avoiding gazes in a one-way mirror, a sharp cold nipped at the warm feeling netting them together.

Like a moth to a flame, they were drawn to each other.

The last time they met, they no longer were the moth and the flame. Words like ice, she demanded to be set free.

The flame went out.
