Mother Waits Alone
She sweeps
the shrine steps,
A sweetly
somber
Smile on
her face,
Always
waiting there
To catch
slim chance of
A
long-missed embrace.
Softly,
the wind creeps
Past her
ears, as the
Sun begins
to set.
If Kagome
had
Come home,
here is the
View she
would have met:
Extra food
prepared
Just in
case she had
Happened
to arrive,
Smiles
waiting there
For her if
she had
Only
looked inside.
But Kagome
does
Not come
home, not this
Day nor
the next one;
Mother
waits alone
Against
the backdrop
Of a
setting sun.
