Within You
Adam paused before entering Degrassi Community School. He was so sick of being the third wheel between Clare and Eli. Everything he'd done, he'd done so as to be a non third wheel. They'd starved and near exhausted him. But he moved the stars for no one. Though he believed in them, he lived without sunlight. He couldn't live within them. He opened the door, and tripped. Over Fitz's outstretched foot. He got up, brushed himself off and kept going. He saw the lovebirds and veered in the opposite direction. He walked into English. Clare entered, her eyes swelling with tears. Adam felt her eyes stare daggers into him. What happened? Eli entered a few minutes later, expressionless. They wouldn't look at each other. A small fear crept up inside Adam. Would he be the bridging distance between them rather than be the third wheel? Being a third wheel was bad enough, but having to bridge the distance between them would be murder. Tired eyes soon became misted eyes. Adam didn't like this. He didn't want to believe it, but the truth hurt like hell. Clare's death glare become angrier.
"What or who spit in your bean curd?" he asked.
"YOU DID!" She yelled, exiting the classroom. Adam was confused. Eli wasn't looking at him.
"What happened?" Adam asked. Eli shot him sad, longing eyes and no reply left his lips. Adam became even more confused.
-Guy's Night Eli's-
"Ooh that one's gonna leave a mark." Adam commented. Eli had been quiet since he'd put the movie in. Adam couldn't get conversation out of him. Patience he reminded himself.
"Are you gonna talk to me or are you still bummed about Clare?"
"Clare didn't dump me. I dumped her!" Eli snapped. Adam was shocked. He'd spent 3 months pestered by being a third wheel, and then boom! He couldn't wrap his mind around it. Eli got up.
"Come on, man. The movie's almost over." Adam protested.
"GET OUT!" Eli yelled. Adam's eyes glazed over. He stood up, turning his face away. He refused to cry in front of Eli. The front door was unlocked. Adam went behind the Hearse to spill the erupting tears. The gut wrenching sobs that spilled muffled the sound of the front door opening and closing. Eli slowly crept over to his best friend. "I'm sorry man." He was quiet. Adam made no sign he'd heard. Eli touched his shoulder "Come on man, I mean it. I'm just confused right now. " Adam eyed him silently. In a split second, Adam didn't know what was happening. He snapped back to reality, quickly. For Eli, this wasn't enough. Adam's mind was distorted. Was he dreaming? Was Eli really kissing him? Who the hell cares! A new side of Adam screamed. A fire burned in Eli's stomach. Screw Clare…. Adam's head pulled back.
"Fuck me!" He sighed in exasperation.
"Am I supposed to take that literally?" Eli seemed excited, Adam was fighting a mental battle.
"Not in public Eli!" Adam smacked him playfully. Eli grabbed his hand.
"Couch or bed?" The sentence snapped Adam back to reality. In a second, gravity was gone and he was being whisked off somewhere. Nothing escaped his lips . It was silent To Adam, it was something of a learning experience.
-later-
"Damn" Adam sighed, exhausted.
"What just happened?" Eli was in euphoria. Adam didn't answer. He couldn't answer. The word jumbled in his brain. "Adam?"
"Yeah?"
"I think I love you"
