My whole body was numb. The leaves crinkled under my body, and I shook. I shook from the shock of him leaving, the shock of the rain. The shock. The rain pelted me so hard, but it didn't even phase me. He was gone. My rock. My marble statue. He was gone and there was no way for me to get him back. Once I realized that, the shaking worsened.

My tears blended with the rain to make this salty concoction run down my face. It fell into my mouth, giving my mouth the bitter, awful taste that I felt physically. My hair stuck to my face, arms, anywhere it could. And it didn't matter. I didn't matter. Nothing mattered. Everything was falling apart and unraveling, a little bit more each moment I laid there.

As I continued to lie there, the rain dissipated along with my tears. Still, I couldn't move. The pain and horror of the day's events rendered me motionless. Suddenly, I heard quickened footsteps coming from behind me. As they approached me, the footsteps slowed down and came to a complete stop right by my head. Reluctantly, I turned on my side and hoisted myself up. I knew my eyes were puffy and red, my hair sticking to my face, and my clothes stuck to me like skin to the bone. I looked up at this unfamiliar person, which was very unlike something that would happen in Forks.

"Hey," the person said, hands on their hips. They looked about my age, with beautiful blonde hair.

"You okay down there?" The voice asked, giving me an empathetic smile.

"Peachy," I responded, trying to blink the mixture of remaining tears, rain, and dripping from my hair out of my eyes.

"Here," The person said, extending a hand down to me. I reluctantly grabbed it and stood up, a few inches shorted than them.

"So what are you doing here?" The voice asked, looking at me with deep blue eyes.

"Oh, you know, just lying around," I responded sarcastically. The person responded with a resounding laugh.

"Well, this was something interesting to find on my first day in Forks," They responded, laughing lightly.

"Oh, so you just moved here?" I asked.

"Yep, my uncle works in Seattle, and he likes Forks, so there you go," They replied.

"Your uncle's nuts." They smiled and looked quizzically at me.

"Hi, I'm Bella," I said, extending my hand.

"Riley."
