A/N: I wrote this about four years ago and had posted it on LotRfanfiction(dot)com, but I thought I'd share it with the crowd here as well. Tolkien owns the characters, places and events described, but the composition itself is my own. Hope you like it!

Arwen & Aragorn

Truly, it is said, that the Elves are fair
With their sparkling eyes and their silky hair
But none can be more fair than the Evenstar
All can see her beauty, even from afar

Long she dwelled in the woods of Lórien
The land of her people, Lothlórien
There she lived with the obvious, no other
The Lady Galadriel, her grandmother

She returned, for a time, to Rivendell
And in its woods is where she met Estel
'Tinuviel!' he thought her to be
'Nay' she answered, 'though many think I am she'

Aragorn loved her from that moment on
Lord Elrond saw this and spoke to his "son"
'Though you are noble, she is much higher
And if she chooses you, you may claim her

But before you do that, you must prove your worth
You are to be king, not a man from the north'
Then Aragorn left and went on his way
And lived in the wild for many a day

Years later, he went to Galadriel's land
He seemed like an Elf-lord rather than a man
Being clothed in white with a gem on his brow
He would put aside his obligations for now

It was unknown to him, but Arwen was there as well
After their long parting she again beheld Estel
On Midsummer's eve she turned from her kin
She chose Estel and bound herself to him

Not long after came the War of the Ring
Aragorn's chance to prove himself as king
He bravely fought the Enemy, day and night
With the help of his allies they won each fight

Some weeks after the downfall of Sauron
Elrond gave Estel the hand of Arwen
Though Elrond was saddened by Arwen's choice
He was glad that his daughter could rejoice

Lord Elrond departed over the Sea
And Arwen's children he never did see
Estel and Arwen loved each other dearly
But their future they could see all too clearly

Sadly, the time came for Aragorn to die
Arwen found it heartbreaking to say goodbye
She left Minas Tirith and her son behind
And went to the most peaceful place she could find

She came at last to Caras Galadhon
And walked among the trees, her kin now long gone
Upon Cerin Amroth, she gave in to her sorrow
She will be remembered, today and tomorrow
