A/N: I haven't really read the books to be honest, only saw the movies and read a few spoilers of the books and found out about the groups. Then I thought about WCKD sending a girl into group A to see what the effect will be like. And also I based the name of the girl on 'Amelia Earheart' the first woman to fly the atlantic.
ⅰ. into the deep green
Clunk. Clunk.
Take a deep breath, that's right.
Clunk.
Where am I? Why am I in a cage? Where is it headed to? Doesn't this bloody place have some light?
Clunk. Clunk.
The only answer I have for all the questions teeming inside my mind, and practically all I know about myself was a name and a single, very happy memory. My name was Lia, and I had a elder brother named Minho. Thinking about the brother that I didn't even know of, seemed to calm me down a little but it was hard to pretend that my heart was pounding in my chest, trying to get out. Because there was no single way that I can lie to myself, that I was afraid, and trapped.
Clunk. That's when the lift stopped the lift stopped. The ceiling opened and sunlight streamed in. It was so bright compared to the smothering darkness I was in when the ceiling was closed. I shield my arms in front of my eyes, for the light was really doing far too much damage to my sight. I realized that there were thirty or so boys staring down at me curiously, and that's when panic seems to really hits me.
"Wait! Somethings wrong! It's a girl!" Someone shouted from above.
They broke into whisperings and yelling at this, all staring at her.
"I call dibs!"
"Hey! I saw her first!"
"She's really pretty."
I looked around the cage, ignoring the boys shouts and noticed that there were a lot of oil cans and wooden crates.
"Hey, greenie." Someone shouted at me from above. I looked up to see a boy with messy blond hair holding out a hand to me. "There's no need." I grumbled. There were a lot of 'oos' and 'ahs' to this. The boy whose hand I had refused cocked up an eyebrow. "And how do you think you can get out, princess?" I ignore this and lightly hopped on one of the canes and hoisted myself up on the grass where a few of the boys held my arms to make sure I remained steady. They let go of me fairly quickly.
The boys all started to whisper to one another and looking at me shiftily as if I'm going to pass out sooner or later. I did indeed feel like doing that. I swayed on my feet a little, and that's when I realized that suddenly everything went deadly silent. Someone from the back took hold of my arms and held tightly to it, so tightly it hurt, and that's when I lost myself. Without thinking, I turned around, kicked the boy that was holding me in the shins and punched him in the face with my free arm and ran.
It felt like there was nothing here but green as I ran as if my life depended on it. My ears picked up hooting from the boys behind me and one of them yelling, "We need her as a runner!"
My feet began to slow down and the earth shook and span from under my feet and there was a buzzing noise in my brain and my knees hit the ground with a dull thud, and I answered to the growing darkness once again.

"She isn't dead is she?"
"Don't say that shuck!"
The voices was bouncing inside my head and my eyes flickered open. "Ugh." I groaned as I picked myself off the muddy ground.
"Ah! See, she's alive," I looked up to see a dark skinned man standing above me, but I wasn't in the cage anymore, but rather like in a pit or something. "How are you feeling, greenie?"
Greenie? That is so not my name. I thought about saying that but instead what escaped my lips were, "Why can't I remember anything?"
"Anything at all?" The man asked me. I shook my head in response. "Nothing? Not even a name?"
I shuddered. "My names Lia."
"Hey, it's okay," He whispered softly, "We all started like that, just coming up of the shucking box and not knowing anything at all. How 'bout I get you up?" I nodded gratefully and took his hand and he pulled me up.
"My name's Alby, and welcome to the Glade, greenie." He said as I took a look around.
"Actually," I started slowly, picking my words carefully, "I do know something other than my name. I think I remember having a big brother. Do you know anyone here called Minho?"
Alby fell silent. "Um..." I said, feeling for a loss of words and slightly embarrassed but curious all the same. I mean, if there was no 'Minho' around, Alby wouldn't fall into silence right? But it also felt as if something happened to my brother, the only one beside myself that I remember. "I think I should take you to meet him, he's at dinner, an I think that he's the one that's supposed to give you the tour, greenie."
I nodded, wanting to see my blood relative so badly. And now I also seemed to have figured out that 'greenie' seems to be what the boys used instead of 'newbie'.
Alby was taking me towards the huts I had seen earlier. He opened the door of one of them, which unfortunately I was not keen in remembering which one it was. But it was obvious enough that this was the diner, as the boys were all digging into their foods. Some looked up as the door opened and started staring at me, some even wolf-whistling. I couldn't help myself from blushing as I shifted on my feet, following Alby across the room towards a table in the corner where a couple of guys were sitting at, clearly in a deep discussion.
"Hey Alby," One of them greeted him, "And this must be the female greenie everyone's talking ab-" And he stopped mid sentence, staring open-mouthed at me. He was a Asian guy with a rough build. He looked very familiar, and I knew this must be my brother, which he was recognizing the moment it got to me too.
"Lia?" He asked softly, and suddenly the whole din went quiet.
Getting exited, I yelled, "Yes! Yes, Minho, it's me."
And I automatically jump into his arms that was waiting for me. He picked me up easily and began spinning me in circles, until I was practically giggling so hard, it felt as though my stomach wouldn't be able to fill in the laughter anymore. And luckily Minho set me down, when I was starting to feel a little green.
But his arms were still wrapped around my neck securely as he stood me on the bench and he climbed on too. "Hey, you shanks!" He announced in a booming voice to the room, "I'd like you all to meet my baby sister, Lia!" The room burst into noise, as if someone had just popped a balloon with a sharp needle. "Lia! Lia! Lia!" the boys chanted. I buried myself into Minho's chest and blushed, he only held on tighter.
Only when Alby shouted for the fifth time for them to shut up, was I able to eat. After stuffing myself beside me brother who was rambling on about how much I've grown and how he couldn't believe that I was here with him, he took me outside to a tour of the glade.
The place was huge. Wherever the wind blew, there seemed to be green.
Minho took my hand and walked towards the edge of the Glade. There, I recognized the cage that had lifted me up to this place.
"This is the box," Minho explained, as he began shifting the boxes and metal cans out of it. "It's where we get our supplies every week, and our new greenie every month, like you. Well, different gender. The supplies are mainly clothes, foods and equipment and all."
I stared down at the box. It seemed somehow smaller on the outside, not as bog as I had thought.
"Hey! Look, the creators even got somethings for you!" Minho shouted, throwing up a crate. I leaned in to see my name stamped on it. I gave a sigh of relief, I was worrying about asking boys for extra clothes. Minho jumped up to me and picked up my box.
"The glade is split into four sections - the Gardens, the Homestead, Blood House and Deadheads." Minho explained, while turning around with the box in his hands. "Come on, I'll get you settled in the Homestead and drop this thing off and I'll show you the other sections."
