Monsters & Men

Annie stared in horror as the vampire leaned over the sofa holding a small knife above her precious baby Eve getting ready to strike. She stood frozen to the spot, not just because she was horrified but because deep down she knew Cutler was performing a necessary evil, one that she didn't have the guts to do herself. However just as he was about to make his move, Annie's motherly, protective love got the better of her again and she used her powers to dislodge the stake from the wall and project it at Cutler. In the heat of the situation though, she reacted too quickly and franticly, missing the vampire's heart. Cutler collapsed to his knees, coughing up blood as he did. He grabbed hold of the back of the sofa for support but his hands were terribly burnt and his arms grew limp. Cutler's weakened and charred body hit the carpet with a thud, he was still alive….just!

Alex was too stunned to move or even talk, mortified by the bloody scenario she had just witnessed. Was Cutler dead? He certainly looked like it but weren't vampires supposed to turn to ash when they were staked? That's what most movies and TV shows suggested, however she had seen some shows where vampires withered like dead plants instead. Being new to the whole 'supernatural scene' she really didn't know what to believe, before Alex could learn that Cutler still lived Annie sent her to the kitchen for a bucket of hot soapy water and a cloth.

Annie walked over to Cutler and looked down at his pitiful body. How easy it would be for her to end him right there and then. As she pulled the stake out of his back she certainly gave the idea some strong contemplation but then quickly disregarded it just as quickly as she discarded the stake. The grim truth was that she was grateful to him, grateful that he had made her accept what it was she needed to do. Cutler had solidified Annie's resolve & given her the strength and courage to carry it out. Annie not really knowing what else to do with him, quickly rent-a-ghosted Cutler to the café where Tom worked & dumped him on the bins at the back. Then she vanished leaving the severely wounded vampire alone with his thoughts.
