This is my very first Scandal story. I am absolutely addicted to this show. I hope you like this one-shot.
There were some mornings when Fitz woke up and couldn't wrap his mind around what he had done in his life to deserve what he had now. He was happy, there was no doubt about it; he was immensely happy. So much so, that sometimes he was afraid to go to sleep because of the possibility of waking up to find that it all had been a dream.
Getting here certainly had been no easy task, with the fights, and lies, and secrets. Fitz wasn't exactly proud of the things that he had done to Olivia. No matter what he did in the future, she would still be hurt as result of his actions. But they managed to make it and were in the best place they had been in. Ever.
Fitz looked over at the love of his life, the mother of his child, his wife and couldn't help the smile that spread across his face. He found himself doing that a lot. Smiling like an idiot for no reason other than he was a man completely and totally satisfied with his life.
He remained in bed watching Olivia sleep for a little while longer until he heard whimpers through the baby monitor and knew that meant that his daughter was awake. He slipped out of the bed, careful not to wake Liv, and made his way to the nursery. Slowly the whimpers became cries and those cries were beginning to grow louder when Fitz reached the infant.
"There's Daddy's girl. Hi baby." Fitz placed a kiss in the baby's hair before placing her against his chest. Her chubby hands grabbed onto his shirt.
"We have to be quiet so don't wake up mommy." Fitz exited the nursery, baby in tow, and headed downstairs to prepare a bottle. When the bottle was ready, he headed back upstairs into the pastel colored nursery and sat down in the rocking chair. He looked out the window and into the back yard of the rather large piece of land that they owned. The baby in his arms feasted happily and looked up at her father with eyes that matched his. The house was silent, aside from the sounds the baby made as she ate.
These were the moments he loved the most. Times when he and Mia could sit and talk. Well he would talk, and she would listen. They could just take in the moment and enjoy each other's company.
"Mia, I love you so much. Sometimes I look at you and I can't believe that we made you. Your mother, she's just perfect. I couldn't ask for a better person to raise you. And I can already tell you are going to be a lot like her. You're beautiful, and smart, and you're already so funny." Mia continued to look up at him with curiosity. "Hopefully, you'll be more like her than your dear old dad."
He removed the bottle from her mouth and placed Mia on his shoulder so that he could burp her. He began to pat her back until a rhythm formed and soon enough a burp erupted from her. "Good girl. Why don't we go see what momma's up to?" He got up from the chair and walked back into the room that he shared with his wife and sat on the bed.
He looked at his daughter for a second and turned to his wife. He knew in that moment that this was not a dream. This was the life that he would get to live everyday for the rest of his life.
"Liv. Liv, babe. It's time to wake up."
Well here it is. I hope you enjoyed it. Be sure to review so that I can make my stories better. Thanks!
