"My little girl is graduated!" Lorelai squealed, when they walked into the front door of their house.
Lorelai had invited the town residents to her house for a get together, to celebrate Rory's graduation.
She had left the house key in the painted glass turtle beside their door, so that the guest could let themselves in.
"I know! I'm finally finished with school! But, you seem more excited than me." Rory observed.
"That's because I don't have to go to any more Booster meetings! And I don't have to be ridiculed by ol' Headmaster What's His Name, for my lack of "participation." Lorelai replied, using air quotes.
"And I don't have to put up with Francie, AKA: Miss Puff Queen herself, anymore!" Rory laughed.
"We leave for Europe soon. I can't wait for that!"
"I've already calculated that we leave in just a mere fourteen hours," Rory stopped to glance at her watch, "fifteen minutes and twelve seconds."
Lorelai shuddered.
"What?" Rory asked.
"That is really creepy."
"What is?" Rory wanted to know.
"That even though you've left Chilton, you're still acting brainy." Lorelai told her.
"And just how am I supposed to act?"
"Like me." Lorelai replied.
"How is that?" Rory asked.
"By simply acting…non-brainy." Lorelai smiled.
"Give it time."
"Uh huh." Lorelai nodded.
Just then Lindsay approached them, "Hi, guys."
"Hi, Lindsay." Rory smiled.
Lorelai nodded her greeting.
"Listen, Rory, Dean told me what you did with the wedding present. We picked out a set of mixing bowls. That was Dean's idea. I just wanted to say thanks, and give you and your mom one of these." Lindsay extended her hand, offering a wedding invitation.
"Wow, thanks, Lindsay." Rory smiled.
"Sure." Lindsay grinned and walked away.
"That was really nice." Lorelai commented.
"Yeah, I guess she's not out to get me anymore."
"No, I didn't mean her. I meant it was nice of you, not to dump that strawberry punch over her head, after she stole your boyfriend."
"Mom! She didn't steal him. Dean and I had broken up." Rory exclaimed.
Lorelai grinned, "I'm gonna go see how Sookie's doing in the kitchen."
"Okay."
Rory smiled, when she saw Luke wandering around aimlessly, "Hi, Luke!"
"Oh! Hi, Rory. That was a good speech you gave."
"Thanks. If you're hungry, there's refreshments over there." Rory pointed to a table set up in a corner of the house.
"Okay." Luke said, heading over to it.
Rory walked out to the back porch to get some air.
When she opened the door, there, leaning against the porch railing, and looking especially handsome in a men's suit, was Jess Marriano.
AN/ Sorry for the length! In my story, Jess called her from a pay phone outside Chilton. He wasn't in Venice. Did you like it? Should I continue? Please keep all reviews G rated, with no bleeped out with stars, implied, or actual cuss words! Thanks!
