The rain poured down around me, bouncing off my skin, but I took no notice of it as I drop to my knees on the damp ground. As my knees connect with the newly dug up ground, it squishes beneath my light frame.
I stare at the pristine stone in front of me, bearing his name proudly.
I stare and I stare at the headstone that bears his name in front of me, a cruel imposter residing in the ground in front of me.
That cruel imposter brought before me after his departure from this world, bearing his face but no longer his soul, never again.
His soul left the mortal world and with it, it took mine, only leaving behind an empty vessel, bearing his face, torturing me that cruel imposter, and a soulless shell that no longer has what it most desperately longs for.
I know it will never be him again, but neither will I.
