Disclaimer: I don't own Abby, Carter or any of the ER 'gang'

NB: Although this is a Carby based fiction, I'd appreciate reviews on my writing skills therefore enabling me to the opinions of other 'shippers' – I am not an elitist and I accept all feedback with open arms.

Bounce

His smile beams down on my face as I slowly lower him down onto my belly.

He slowly begins to crawl up towards my face. Every time he moves he leaves the imprint of a hand, foot, knee or elbow on my stomach making me grateful that we decided to play before eating.

I take his arms and gently stand him up. He lets out a tiny giggle, the sort that makes it impossible not to laugh with him.

I move my hands down to his knees to make sure that he'll stay upright but he seems to take this as an invitation to jump.

It's hard to believe that someone so small would have the power to wind you. Every bounce makes me feel slightly queasy but the look on his face stops me from moving. He's so carefree and happy, he rarely cries and when he does it doesn't take much to stop him.

Abby walks into the room and smiles, she looks tired but beautiful, her eyes are bright, her cheeks pink and her hair has started to fall out from her ponytail.

I turn back to my son.

"Who's that?" I ask

He looks back at me blankly

"That's mommy. Can you say mommy?"

His expression doesn't change.

"Maybe not today then"

Abby gives me a weak smile

I move my legs so she can sit at the end of the couch. She looks at him, as he looks at me, as I look at her; it is only when I come out of this trance that I realise that he is still jumping on my stomach. I decide to sit up before I throw up. He starts to whimper so I bounce him on my knees - it's certainly less painful for me.

His little smile creeps back onto his face. He starts to grab for my face. I give him my hands instead.

With a big kick from his feet and extreme pain on my part he manages to stand up again.

A few seconds later it comes to no surprise that he starts to jump again.

A/N To continue my stand alone streak I wrote this taking a challenge from the gorgeous Carzie whose light conversation and compliments I rely on. Other dedications to my baby Carrie who is one of my bestest friends who I couldn't live without. Other mentions go to Laura who although its been a while sent her feedback back ASAP and all the other unsuspecting Carbies who talk to me and make me feel special.
