Chapter 1: The Day
The final days of the war were numbered. It was all going to be over. The kids and warriors/soldiers began preparing for the fight. Battle armor and paint were being passed around. It was quite and sad in the room. Everyone knew that maybe half of the people in that room would be dead by the end of the fight. Out of the kids Toph seemed most nervous but kept calm. Sokka and Katara were reunited with their father, Hagota. Him and sokka prepared with last minute fighting tips while katara, with the help of her new friend Jean from the earth kingdom, she cut her hair to her neck. She didn't want it to be a distraction during the battle.
"Alright. Katara your hair is really pretty. Are you sure you want it off?" Jean asked.
"Yes Jean." Katara said closing her eyes.
"Whatever you say." Jean began to cut slightly uneven. When she finished Katara's hair that didn't look that bad, she let her get up to brush it out and tie it.
"thank you, Jean." Katara said.
Jean nodded and began to leave.
"jean" Katara called out. "Have you seen Aang?"
"Oh yea. He's with your dad and cute brother."
Katara gave a small laugh at her response. She went toward her brother who was in a room filled with the men and women who were getting set for combat. Once spotting her family she walked down the aisle slowly to them. There were more men than women fighting and katara being attractive even with her trademark long hair half gone most of the men stared her down, whistled, and even tried pinching.
Sokka seeing this rushed to his sister placing one hand on her shoulder and shouted "hey, hey! Knock it off!!" he pushed her along and spoke in an irritated manner in her ear "katara this was the 5 time this happen today! I'm beginning to think your doing this on purpose."
"of course, sokka. I am." Katara said with a laugh. She walked over to her father and gave him a quick hug. " hi daddy."
"katara, are you giving sokka a hard time?" he asked.
"no. he can do that on his own."
To the right side of Hagota was Haru laughing. "hey Katara." He said.
"hey! Oh you want a hug too?"
"I never said that." Haru smiled sweetly.
"too bad. You get one too." Katara reached over and hugged Haru and his father.
On the floor quietly was toph. She was depressed lately. Her parents didn't know where she was and she could just imagine her mother's face if her found out Toph was somewhere dead. Katara kneeled down next to the earth bender and said "Toph everything will be fine. Ok?" the kind water bender gave her a hug and both cried.
"Sokka will you take Toph for some fresh air, please?" Katara asked.
"Sure. Come on Toph." Sokka escorted her outside and tried to calm her down a bit. Toph was strong and knew it was wrong to think like that.
As they left, Hagota, Tyro and Haru went on talking about a future engagement for Katara and Haru. He blushed most of the time and katara left with aang to somewhere quiet.
"Aang I cant believe this could be the end of the adventure. I still remember when we first met. Like it was yesterday."
"Katara I never really got to thank you. If you never released me or saved me who knows what the outcome would have been. If we live we will still be friends right?"
"Of course we will be Aang!"
"I might travel back and to visit you and your 'future' husband."
"Haru is nice but he's too sensitive"
a while later they decided to walk back inside and once they were back inside walking back to the group the door opened behind them.
"Zuko!" Katara quietly said not afraid because they are in a room filled with people on her side.
