The pain paralyzed every cell in my body. I couldn't cry out or even blink. The burning continued even after they took the needle out of my skin. All I could do was look at the bright lights above me and hope it would end soon. Suddenly all I could see was the inside of my eyelids. I tried to open my eyes but my eyelids seemed to weigh one thousand pounds each. I could hear faint muttering on my right, which seemed to grow in volume.
"How's the wife Andy?" the voice (belonging to a man) on my right asked. The second voice startled me with its harshness.
"Why do you want to know?" the second voice said moving from the foot of my bed to my left.
"She's not doing too well. Her doctor says she doesn't have much time left." The voice called Andy said softly before the other voice could respond to his roughness. I pondered the word wife, sifting through my brain trying to find out what it meant. This temporally took my mind of my pain. I had only heard the word a few times; I hadn't quite grasped the meaning of it. All I could conclude was that a wife was always female. I began to imagine what a wife might be. The man named Andy seemed to be attached to his wife, so that had to mean there was some sort of emotion affiliated with a wife. Another stab of pain pulsated through my body all at once, making it impossible for me to pin point the area of puncture.
"We'll pray for her." Said the man on my right solemnly. I could hear both sets footsteps as they retreated and left me swimming in my pain. The room now seemed silent except for the rhythmic beeping of the machine next to me. The pain started to fade slowly, seeping out of my body. My eyelids suddenly became lighter and I was able to open them fully. I sat up slowly and wiped the sweat off of my face. The door directly in front of me swung open and a young woman walked towards me carrying a tray. I suddenly felt awkward warmth on my face as well as my neck and back.
I know it is short and extremely confusing but it gets better. I just had to get it written before I forgot about it.
