Prologue:

The dense fog drifted stagnantly through Platform 9-3/4. Rose Weasley peered through the fog, trying to make out the five silhouettes striding up to her family. Suddenly, a small figure broke into a run and as soon as Rose saw the familiar green eyes, she knew who they were.

"Mum! Dad! It's the Potters!" she shouted, tugging her mother's sleeve. Al skidded to a halt in front of her and said, "Hi, " souding immensely relieved. Rose, who was already wearing her new Hogwarts robes, beamed.

"Parked alright then?" her dad asked Harry. Rose rolled her eyes because at Albus she knew that her dad had been boasting all week about finally learning how to drive a Muggle car. She highly suspected that he'd Confunded the Muggle examiner.

Back on the platform, Lily claimed, "I'm going to be in Gryffindor!" Hugo retorted, "No, I will!"

"Relax guys, everyone knows you'll both be in Slytherin, " James said. Lily and Hugo glanced at each other then immediately began chasing James through the platform and into the fog. Albus sniggered and whispered, "I bet you a fistful of Chocolate Frogs that James will show up with those little devils attacking his ankles."

"Deal," Rose, replied. Her dad chuckled and said, "If you're not in Gryffindor we'll disinherit you, but no pressure."

"Ron!"

"He doesn't mean it, " her mum assured them, glaring at Ron, who was guffawing so loudly that some nearby families were eyeing him oddly. Suddenly, her dad stiffened and said, "Look who it is."

Rose craned her neck and saw who her dad was talking about. Draco Malfoy, his wife, Pansy Parkinson, and his son. She knew all about her father's rivalry with Draco Malfoy when he went to Hogwarts. He nodded curtly at them and turned away.

"So that's little Scorpius," her dad muttered. "Make sure you beat him in every test, Rosie. Thank God you inherited your mother's brains."

"Ron, don't try to make them bitter enemies before they've even started school!" her mum admonished him. Rose could see a ghost of a smile on her mum's lips, however.

"You're right," said her dad, "Don't get too friendly with him, Rosie. Granddad would never forgive you for marrying a pureblood."

"Ron!"

Rose glanced at Scorpius and narrowed her eyes. She made an oath then and there to herself to beat him at school, no matter what. He suddenly swivelled around and and stared back at her. Rose glared back into his cold grey eyes, letting him know exactly what she thought of him before derisively tossing her hair and turning back to Albus.

A loud whistle suddenly rand out over the noise and clamour of the platform.

"Train's about to leave kids, better hurry, " Rose's dad warned, hugging her tightly. Her mum kissed her on the forehead and promised, "We'll owl you every day. Have fun at Hogwarts!"

"Bye Mum! Bye Dad! Bye Hugo!" Rose called as dragged Albus to the train and threw open the door to the carriage with a resounding thud. She heaved her luggage into the compartment and practically yanked Albus in as well. Quite a few faces seemed to be staring at Harry.

"Why are they staring?" demanded Albus. Rose's dad joked, "It's me. I'm extremely famous." Rose hung out of the window and waved at her parents. The train began to move and she saw Hugo and Lily emerge from the mist, chasing the train until it pulled out of the station and rounded a corner. Rose sank down into the seat and sighed. She would make this first year one to remember.
