A/N: And le final installment of this little mini-fic series haha. My friend has tried to coerce me into writing more but I dunno. Maybe one day haha.

Who was he? Why was he around her son? Was Regina engaged? And why did she sound like some crazy jealous girlfriend? Emma sighed and closed the door to her car as she saw her son scurry into school.

She started her car again and made her way back into the main part of town. She parked in her parking spot at the Sheriff's station and leaned against her car. She crossed her arms and closed her eyes, just thinking.

"Something on your mind Miss Swan?" Regina said as she walked up to Emma.

"Is it against the town law to think or something?" she asked bitterly.

Regina laughed, "no." she shifted her briefcase in front of her and looked at Emma, "taking care of my son hard?" she asked sarcastically.

"All I'm doing is taking him to school, so do you really have to complain about that?" she sighed, "and what is this guy I keep seeing you with? Is he safe to be around Henry?"

Regina rolled her eyes, "his name is Daniel Stabler, yes he is safe to be around Henry. I wouldn't dare let him in my house if he wasn't. You should know at least that."

"I'm not entirely sure what to think anymore with you." she crossed her arms again.

"Well you can be rest assured that he is safe with Daniel." Regina said.

Emma have her a skeptical look, "are you engaged to him?"

"In a matter of speaking yes… But my personal life is none of your business Miss Swan."

"When it involves my kid, Madame Mayor, it is." she retorted bitterly.

"Well Miss Swan I would appreciate it if you stopped sounding like a jealous teenager and trust me enough to know that I would never let any harm come to Henry."

"Okay. For now." She eased off the car and started heading inside, "but if Henry ends up getting hurt so help me god I will be the first one to rip Henry away from you."

"Good luck with that," came her snark reply.

Regina moved to open up the front door but it already opened. There stood Daniel. Regina smiled, "hi, such a surprise, wanna explained how you got in my house?" she asked playfully.

He pulled her inside and kissed her gently, "thought it was safer here than getting daggers from Sheriff Swan." he laughed and closed the door behind them. "Henry came home and went upstairs and I haven't seen him since. I don't think he likes me much…"

"He just needs to warm up to you… He's not too fond of me either." she sighed and rested her head on Daniel's chest.

He wrapped his arms around her, "you're his mother, he'll come around." he kissed her forehead.

"But the way he thinks of me… He's right…" Daniel shushed her and placed a finger to her lips.

"You did some wrong things Regina. Some that I don't ever want to think about again but you thought your intentions were in the right place." he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "He just doesn't see that. He sees a world full of black and white because of that book. But no world is like that. There are always shades of gray." He rubbed her back comfortingly.

Regina smiled, how did he do it? How did he know how to make that ice queen façade melt? Regina leaned up and cupped his face, "thank you Daniel. That means a lot," she kissed him sweetly, "would you like to stay for dinner?" she asked him.

"I'd love to."
