"I'll find you a new body. I promise."
Rush's vow would not be broken. Even if he had to go to Hell and back. He grasped young girls body. Even though there was no sign of Mandy in the ginger's complexion, he knew that the only other girl he ever cared about was dead.
Once he learned that her mind could be downloaded into the destiny's system, he knew that there was still hope for her. He ate nothing, never slept and didn't focus on what the rest of the crew found "important". To hell with whatever they "needed" him for. If those two brainless dud's wanted work, well then, here's their time to work. Mandy was getting the opportunity that she'd been dreaming about.
"Nick."
Ignoring whoever was talking he continued to busy himself in his work. "Look, I don't have bloody time for..." He paused. Wait, had the person just called him Nick? He only knew one person who would talk to him so informally.
He turned around. Blinking to make sure he wasan't seeing things, he realized that the lovley scientist was the one who had spoken.
"This can't be.."
"It isin't." she responded immeadiatly. "I'm not really here, though I wish I was."
He smiled. "Don't worry Mandy, I promised you."
His grin was contagious, and made her serious face break into a wide beam. "I know. Do you have any ideas?"
He paused. "Well.."
"No, you don't" she sighed. He nodded admitting to what she had said. "Mandy, i'm sorry, I really am, and i'm going to keep trying right to the grave."
"Well, thanks to me, you won't have to."
He stood up. "You know..?"
"Yes, I have and idea."
