The day had begun perfect and for an instant I thought our trip home would go smoothly, until I heard that first shriek. I felt the car swerve and people's screams filled my ears as I shut my eyes to brace for the impact.

The minutes felt like hours and in a blink of an eye, our whole trip was turned upside down. Within moments blood, gore, and death blinded my vision as I opened my eyes to find swirl of sand that surrounded the five of us, blood enticing the bodies around me that were once full of life. I could feel the panic arise inside of me, my body shivering in fear, my hands unable to grasp anything. I was only welcomed by the closed eyes of the people around me; leaving me to the complete realization that I was left alone, the only thing I feared the most.

Raven, Cyborg, Beastboy, even Robin didn't have an ounce of life in them. Everything that could have gone wrong did and didn't help but question if it was just some kind of nightmare. I shook my head a little, unable to process how such an amazing weekend of camping could have ended into this. I could still feel the warmth of the campfire we only blew out hours ago, the gentle kiss that was exchanged with the guy I loved the most, the gentle laughs that were shared within my friends faintly echoed in my ear.

I gave out a grunt as I strained to get the constricting seatbelt that was restrained against my chest. Gingerly opening the door, I already felt the tenderness of my arm making me stumble onto the cold murky dirt. I was surprised to see how sinister it had gotten…how eerie the darkness clouded the forest; the cold slashes of wind that broke into me only made me feel even more alone. From the little light I was able to conquer, I was able to make my way to observe the sight and could make out the tire tracks that were imprinted from the car.

I felt my eyes travel along the length of the scene. I looked over, something gleaming catching my eyes. Tilting my head with confusion, I cautiously, made my way to where it aroused my attention, wondering how out of place that mysterious object seemed to be. As I got closer, I felt my hands get moist with anticipation, my heart pounding faster with every step I took, as if my eyes were about to bulge out of my head. There was only one other place I had seen this sort of weaponry on Tameran...the emblem that belonged to Karras.

AN: I've had this idea in my head for quite awhile. Angsty fic? Check.
