Balthazar looked at the body in his arms. The sight of it sent a chill down his back. No child should be treated like this. He wished he knew what he was thinking.

"Balthazar….*cough* what happe-"the world went blank as he cradled the Prim Merlinian in his arms.

24 hours before:

Dave and Balthazar were both in the training area that they called home. Becky stopped seeing Dave when she moved to Arizona, Veronica died in another case saving Dave. Balthazar lived where Dave lived in separate rooms. They had both been laughing on the cream colored couch, when a question sparked Balthazar's mind.

"Dave… since we will be living together, I have a question what where your parents like? I mean I would love to meet them someday." Balthazar said looking at the boy. Dave's blood ran cold. His face went extremely pale, Balthazar even noticed.

"I didn't mean to intrude but are you alright?" Dave looked at the elder sorcerer and nodded. He began talking.

"My mother died when I was 9 which was one year before I met you, my father was devastated at the death of her he would stay locked up in his office. One day it was the day after I met you, I had enough of this it was over a year and he would still be locked up in his office. I knocked on the door and he said come in."

Flashback:

"Daddy I have a question. Do you have a picture of mommy because I need it for school, were doing a family tree." He looked at me with a crazed expression. He was about to hand me a picture when he threw a glass vase at me it hit me right in the chest sending me flying back and a chunk of glass stuck in my chest. He fled but he did call the cops, I was sent to the hospital, were they did surgery. I ended up in a coma for a week, but my father escaped.

End of flashback.

Balthazar s eyes were wide David was scare d for life. Dave lifted up his shirt to a scar almost to his belly button.

"David I'm so sorry I wish I would have never disappeared."

"Its ok that was 10 years ago I'm over it." With that said he got up and went straight to his room. Balthazar had never seen anything like this that was no way to treat a child. He had to help Dave.
