What is love?
Orihime has been wondering about that for hours, and hours, yet she found out that she cannot answer properly. Up until now, she thought that love was something big, with princesses and knights, and, and… Well, her imagination was running wild when it came to that subject. Yet, the answer didn't come.
She thought she should ask someone. Someone who could trust to know the answer. But who? Tatsuki would only say that love is something silly. But, that just can't be! Kurosaki-kun, maybe? Nah…he would just answer 'Rukia', with a sheepish look- she had gotten used to it now, and she was just fine with that.
She laughed. But, of course! Ishida-kun! After all, didn't he have an answer for every question of hers? Everytime she was wondering about something, he was the one to give an explanation. Why not for that, too?
She wandered through the school yard, searching for him. There he was, under a tree- his tree, she'd say, because he was usually there, with a book in his hand. Just like now. His eyes were fixed on the book he had open in his lap, and his hair were falling in front of his face. Orihime stayed motionless for a while, looking at him, then she walked up to him.
"Ishida-kun?"
He turned his eyes on her. "Yes, Inoue-san?"
She sat down next to him. "I have a few questions, you know…"
"I'll try to answer them all, if you tell me" .
"Do you know what's love? I mean, we all talk about love, and how powerful it is. But what is it, exactly?"
The look in his eyes, as he turned to face her –startled from her question- was one of true concern. Even, pain. Then he turned his gaze away. "I…don't know, Inoue-san" .
"Ishida-kun…" She had never seen him like this again. Then, the realization strike her down. As she was watching him looking away from her, she understood. It's not that she didn't know-it's just that, she had just realized.
She leaned close to him and kissed the corner of his lips. He looked at her shocked, blushing fiercely, then smiled shyly. She looked at him and took his hand in hers.
"Thank you, Ishida-kun. I knew you had all the right answers."
And that felt so right, and natural as her breathing.
