Moonpaw's last wish

Moonpaw

The last thing I wanted was to make him angry. I meant my mentor, Hailstorm. He's not at all that pleasant. Then again today was training, which had to be battle training. I walked shyly beside the huge white and silver tom. I was a short and stocky black she-cat with big blue eyes.

His huge claws went down my face unexpectedly. My blue eyes went wide with pain and he left me there to bleed in the open, scorching heat of green leaf. A mouse for my thoughts, oh no, I'll give them up for a rabbit. They're worth so much more after I'm a goner, and maybe then you'll hear the words I've been trying to say. Funny when you're dead how people start listening.

Slowly I felt myself giving away and my eyes were fading. I could barely make out Ravenpaw's scared face, barely hear his last words to me, don't die, please no! You're the only one I ever loved.

"Gather up your tears, keep 'em away. Save them for a time when you're really gonna need them. Don't waste them on me," I whispered my fur already aglow. I got up and watched my body for a few second and went up to Starclan.

I've never known the loving of a tom, but it sure felt nice when we twined tails. There's a tom here in Mountainclan, said he'll love me forever. Who would have thought forever could be severed by, The sharp claw of a short life. I've had just enough time.

I watched as I was being groomed by the clan. Ravenpaw was crying his poor eyes out and I thought one thing. Don't forget to remember me, don't you forget me now.

If I die young, make me look like silk. Lay me down on a flowery field. Lick me gently, like a flowing river. Send me away with the words of a love song. Such as my favorite one. The one I made up. Sure enough Ravenpaw gently uttered the words beside my dead body.

"Lay me down gently, come after me, and meet me at dawn. No matter how far apart, you'll always know I'm there for you," Ravenpaw cried and I smiled. My last wish prevailed. I turned around and headed for the light that was calling my name.

If I die young…..
