Chapter 1 Prologue
The boy without fear
"Im sorry sensei I… I was scared I froze I….", stated Naruto recalling the events that took place earlier with the demon brothers.
Kakashi gazed at Naruto with a thoughtful look as the reflection of the flames from the fire danced in his one eye
"Naruto we all have fear even I, fear for us as humans and ninja limit us, it becomes a barrier to our goals and as long as we hold on to that fear we will never succeed sometimes Naruto you just have to let it go",
"All of it sensei, to be a afraid of nothing is that even possible",
Kakashi smiled as he thought for a moment
"Not necessarily all of it, I don't even know if someone could. They'd have to be insane really, godly even a person without fear willing to go all in at a moments notice just because failing would be worse than death. I think if you have more faith in youself and your comrades you'll be fine.",
Naruto studied the fire as if digesting what he said, and as if bursting with resolve he stood up
"No, sensei I will live without fear, if that is to be my limit I will fear nothing and by doing that I will protect everyone even you because failing you all would be worse than death for me.",
In all the excitement Naruto's fore-head protector fell off his side in to the fire the metal instantly turning cherry red, looking down Naruto smiled as he got an idea.
"Sensei, I won't be afraid to reach and touch the flame",
Naruto reached down into the fire grabbing the metal and instantly branding his palm with symbol of his village as Kakashi watched wide eyed. Naruto didn't seem phased one bit by the pain or the smell of burning flesh in the air, he just smiled as he held out his hand the Konoha leaf standing boldly seared into his palm.
"I swear sensei as you are my witness and as this burn will remind me for those I wish to protect, for the village I serve and for the Hokage I will be, I will live without fear that is my nindo."
