Ladies and Gentlemen! This is just a small one-shot that I wrote like months ago, but I'm just now putting this up. I had even forgot about it til a couple of minutes ago. Anyhow, enjoy this little story about our favourite thief magician.
"Kaito, put it down!" she screamed.
"Not until I find out what colour it is", I whined back.
She made a failed attempt at swinging a punch at me. "You're such a pervert. Even Magic Thief Kaito isn't this bad."
I laughed as I thought, 'You'd be surprised.'
"White", I feigned disappointed.
"Ooo, Kaito Kuroba, you son of a g-", she fumed but then stopped as I flicked a playing card from my sleeve and retracted it back only to be holding a
blue flower this time.
She took it and smiled forgivingly; a small blush lighting her cheeks.
As we took our seats in the classroom, I continued my thoughts, " Hhm, you definitely would be. If you knew it was me again and again every night;
stealing expensive art and jewels; pulling a fast one over Inspector Nakamori and the rest of the Police Dept.' I contemplated things further as I left
school and made my way to Jii-san's pool hall.
"I think, Master Kaito, that it might not be as easy as you may think. On one hand, you tell her, and maybe everything goes well. But what happens
after that? On the other hand, she doesn't react well, she tells her father, and then you have the whole police force after you. Your father became Kid
to protect the Phantom Lady. Anyone else finding out might not just put you in harm's way, but your mother as well."
I made another strike at the ball while his words sank in. I missed the striped 5, but knocked the 8 ball in.
"I see what you're saying", I sighed and leaned against the tall cue, "but I don't know how much longer I can keep going without her catching on. She might act like a child, but she's smarter than she looks."
"All I know is, that if you tell her, something's going to change. Hopefully for the better and, most likely, for the worst.", he continued to polish the
drinking glasses.
Not satisfied with his answer, I finally decided to pack up and go home. "Oyasumi, Jii-san."
"Oyasumi, Master Kaito."
…
I leaned against the window; getting a clear view of Aoko's terrace. Always keep your poker face on, Dad's words echoed clearly in my head. I
changed the channel on the TV to the news and tossed the remote onto the couch.
'Maybe I should tell her.'
On the screen, the newscaster announced, "Law enforcement has just received an advanced notice from Kid himself reading that he will make an
appearance at the Toto Tower Jewelry Gallery at 8pm tonight to steal the 'Cat's Eye'."
Off-screen, a hand grabbed the microphone and Inspector Nakamori's image filled the screen, "I'll catch Kid with my own hands this time for sure!"
"Or…maybe I should awhile", I couldn't contain my smile as I ran through the revolving door.
I honestly hate how short this is, and there wasn't much magic to be shown, but I hope it was still good in the end. Never forget your poker face. See you next illusion~!
