Toph's Crush

-.-.-.-
I couldn't believe it. My plan had backfired. I was going to be rescued by Sokka, kiss him and then he'd fall in love with me, leave that "Suki" girl, and everything would be happy. But no, she had to rescue me, and unknowingly I kissed her. I really hope she doesn't fall in love with me, that'd be gross. The next day I was wondering around and I notice them, they were kissing. I couldn't believe it. How dare she? Sokka's mine!
"Ow!" I exclaimed, as I took a dive onto the ground.
My plan worked, the two lovebirds separated.
"Are you okay Toph?" Sokka asked, as he helped me up.
"Yeah," I said softly, playing the role of the poor blind girl. It was one I knew all too well. "I didn't notice that branch there."
"Maybe you should go over by Aang and Katara," Sokka suggested. "They can point out obstacles for you. Suki and I have to finish our, uh, conversation."
"Can you lead me back to the others?" I asked, trying to get him away from that seductress.
"They're just the hill Toph," Suki said in a voice that sounded far too kind to be genuine. "I know you can do it by yourself."
To add insult to injury I heard the harpy whisper something to Sokka about how doing it by myself would 'help restore my confidence.' To make matters even worse, Sokka told her that he thought she'd make a wonderful mother some day. I had to focus on my breathing to keep my face from turning red with rage.
Thankfully after that fiasco was over and done with Suki left to rejoin her comrades, and I was once again happy. I thought I would finally have a chance to reclaim what was rightly mine.
I spent the next week being nice to Sokka, although sometimes it didn't turn out very well. Like when I complimented his artistic ability. Luckily that was passed off as a joke.
But I was able to get him to take me alone with him when we went to hang up posters. I faked not being able to tell which side was which on the posters. I can't believe everyone fell for it. It was easy to tell which side was which by feeling the ink on the paper, and the indent left by the printer.
Sokka volunteered to let me go with him, I couldn't be happier. I kept on handing him the posters the right way. I wonder if he ever caught on. I even snuck along one of the posters he made (oops, how did that get in there?). He didn't want to hang it though.
That was a good day, probably the last good day we had together before Appa was found and we all split up. By the time we finally got to the Earth King I was out of ideas for how to win Sokka over. Sadly none of my usual antics were working. So I decided to consult a higher power. I yammered some jibberish about my mom "finally understanding me" when I got wind of her being in Ba Sing Se and off I went to ask for advice.
