Hey everyone. This was written for both Halloween Bingo Funfair Events, and October Writing Club's Count Your Buttons on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. For Halloween Bingo I used prompt 45. (color) Orange. For Count Your Buttons I used the Pairings prompt 2. Godric/Salazar. I hope you all enjoy How Gryffindor Got His Hat?.
It was a normal day quite like any other day that Salazar and Godric had spent together. But this was the day that would change everything. At least in regards to Hogwarts anyway. This was the day that the Sorting Hat was given to Godric Gryffindor by his friend Salazar Slytherin in hopes of becoming his boyfriend.
"Godric, come here," Salazar called out his friend motioning him over the front of a hatter shop. "Do you think we should do something special to commemorate this day?"
Godric walked over his head cocked in confusion at what Salazar was asking. He had never heard his best friend talk like this before. It was kind of shocking to Gdoric in a way.
"What do you mean, dear boy?" Godric asked Salazar watching the other boy's face in confusion.
"I mean we should get each other something special as a sign of our friendship," Salazar said trying to cover the blush that was now on his face. "Something that would mean something special just for us. You know?"
Godric nodded knowing exactly what he meant. Catching the blush that crept up the other boy's face he wondered why Salazar felt embarrassed to buy his friend a gift. He'd never known Salazar to stingy with his money.
"Is something wrong, Sal?" Godric asked watching his friend as looked at an orange hat in the window.
"Nothing's wrong," Salazar replied. "I was just looking at that lovely orange hat for Rowena." It wasn't an all together lie. He had been looking at the hat for Rowena but that was to throw Gryffindor of his true feelings for the other boy.
"Orange is her color," Gryffindor said nodding sagely.
"This one is you to a t though, Godric," Salazar pointed towards the brown charming looking hat.
"I totally agree." He pointed towards a black dapper looking hat. "I think this has your name on it, dear Salazar."
And with that said two boys went in and bought four hats. One for each of the four friends but as they parted ways Salazar couldn't help but wondered what would happen if he confessed his true feelings to Godric. Maybe one of these days he would.
