Amber walked along the beach. She couldn't believe that Bray was dead. Now she had the closure that she needed. For so long she had waited and hoped for Bray's return. She had turned away from her relationship from Jay in hopes that her Bray would find his way home. But to no avail.

Finally, when they had found this came on an island far from the city, Jay had said that he believed that this was where they had sent the so called, "deleted" prisoners. Amber had hope. She thought she would finally find her soul mate. But as they went through the camp, it became clear that they wouldn't find the prisoners here. The only thing they found where graves and computer files. Apparently these were the Techno killing fields.

While exploring the camp, they came across the graves of Bray, Ved, Cloe, and some of the other missing MallRats. But it was one grave that had really bothered her. It was the grave of Tai-San. Lex had been through so much, first losing Zandra and his unborn child in an explosion, then the day after his marriage to Tai-San, her being held by the Chosen, to get her back, then finally taken way by the Technos. To later fall in love with Siva, a former Techno, she was cut down by her own sister for betraying her.

While she was kneeling by the grave of Bray, she couldn't help but notice Lex by Tai-San's grave. It tore her heart apart watching him. She could tell that he had been crying. Amber smiled, she knew that Lex would never admit to it, his pride wouldn't allow him.

That night, the Outcasts as the called them now camped on the beach. In the morning the would leave the camp and look for a new home. Hopefully, they would be able to start new lives there.

As the sun was setting, Amber walked along the beach. She had seen Lex walk away from the group and down the beach. She could understand that, honestly, she didn't want to be with the others right now either. But more than that, she wanted to make sure that Lex was okay. She wanted to make sure that he wouldn't do anything stupid.

A little way down the beach, she found her quarry. Lex was sitting on the beach throwing rocks into the sea.

Amber didn't say anything, there was just something about the moment then. She walked up to him and sat down next to him. When she looked at Lex, she realized that he had tears in his eyes. Slowly she put her arms around him. She was afraid that he would pull away, but to her surprise, he leaned into her instead.

"I did love her," was all Amber heard.

She leaned further into him and gave him a hug. "I know you did."

For several minutes they sat there and talked. For the first time since they had met they didn't argue, they just talked. Amber learned more about Lex in those minutes that she ever did in her life. She learned all his hopes and dreams as well as his fears. Slowly Amber realized that she had more feelings for him that she ever did Bray.

Eventually Lex looked into Amber's eyes. Amber was surprised. Maybe Lex was feeling it to. He must have been because he reached up and stared into her eyes,. she could see his emotions in his eyes. Normally they were hard and cold. But now they were warm and blazing. Almost like a new fire had been built within him. And for the first time since she had been with Bray, she felt it too.

She leaned over as Lex cupped her face and kissed her. After they stopped, they spent the evening laying on the beach holding each other.

Finally Amber realized something, maybe she found her soul mate here after all.
