Sirius Black heard the sirens wailing and the thunder of the helicopters. The Muggles and their dogs were getting closer. He just had to reach the woods! They were the borderline between the world and the Muggle prison. Once he got there, he could find his wand, and then... freedom. He was now running flat out across the grounds... he was so close! So close! Freedom!
"C'mon! They said they saw him go this way!" They were gaining on him.
"Where is he!?" a second voice said. He was so close! But he knew they would see him if they got any closer. He heard the shrill barking of a dog and the Muggles came closer.
"Look! There he is," the first voice.
"Freeze now! Get down on the ground!" said the second voice.
Sirius lunged forward, nearly tripping over the branches that were how hitting him from every direction. He was in the woods. He made it!

"I said freeze!" the cop yelled as he pulled out his gun. He ran forward, gun pointed directly at the murderer who had slipped into the woods. The cop was becoming hysterical now. This guy was supposed to be really dangerous and he sure didn't look like he was afraid of them.
"Jay, call for back up!" he called over his shoulder, still running towards the place in the woods where Sirius Black had disappeared. "And let that stupid dog go!"
The younger cop nodded as he unhooked the collar of a big german shepard who was barking wildly and desperately trying to get to the murderer. The dog ran after Black, but when he reached the woods he stopped dead and went silent. As the two, rather slower, cops caught up they exchanged a worried glance. The dog made a small sound and backed away from the edge of the woods.
"What the hell is wrong with you, you stupid dog!?" said the first cop, a little more worriedly than he had expected.
"Dumb dog," said Hay as he approached the woods. Then he realized as he looked ahead, that he couldn't see two feet in front of him. The trees and shrubs were all packed tightly together, not to mention it was three o'clock in the morning.
Then he heard a clatter that sounded like metal hitting stone. He turned around and realized his partner had dropped his gun to the ground. He had his arm pointed straight ahead of him as though he were still aiming it. He had a look of terror on his face.
"Mike?" Jay said, now becoming extremely worried. His partner never froze on the job like this, after all, he had brought down some of the most dangerous and violent criminals this city had seen. "Are you okay?"
Then he saw it. He saw what was wrong. He saw the coal-black fur, the gleaming eyes, the pointed fangs.
And then he saw no more.
