I'm not really one for comic books, or super hero stories, but I've been really interested in the Batman: Arkham games recently, and this story popped into my head. After all, what Batman fan hasn't at some point wanted there to be a way for Batman's parents to be alive and Batman to still exist? Well here's my take. Characters may be ooc, but I don't really know enough to make this very accurate. I know this is short, but here we go.
I do not own Batman or it's characters, or anything like that. All characters are owned by their respective parties.
Joe Chill had Thomas, Martha, and Bruce Wayne at gunpoint in Crime Alley. It seemed like it was guaranteed that someone was going to die here. As Joe Chill cocked the gun, the young Bruce Wayne let out a scream, afraid of what he was about to see.
Just as Joe put his finger on the trigger, a thin man wearing a black costume covering his entire body dropped down and knocked the gun out of Joe's hand. Joe quickly pulled out a knife and slashed a cut along the palm of the costumed man, before he was knocked out by the masked figure, who quickly ran down the alley and disappeared without saying a word. Bruce's eyes never left the mysterious man, awed by his skill and the way he was able to subdue the armed criminal without using a weapon.
Thomas quickly took out his phone and called the police, who arrived shortly to collect Joe and escort the Waynes home. Along the way, the officer informed the Waynes that the person who had saved them had been doing similar work all over Gotham as of late. People were calling him "The Gotham Knight." They soon arrived home. As they walked in, they were greeted by their trusted butler, Alfred, who had his hand wrapped in a bandage.
"Alfred, what happened to your hand?" asked Martha.
"Nothing to worry about Mam. I cut my hand while cleaning up a broken glass." he replied.
Thomas and Martha headed off to bed, tired from the earlier ordeal. Bruce, however, followed Alfred around, telling him about the man who had rescued them.
"It was amazing Alfred. He was so cool."
"I'm sure it was, Master Bruce." Alfred replied, trying his hardest to stifle a small grin.
"Hey Alfred, do you think you could help me to learn to fight like that guy did? I wanna protect people too." he said, a huge smile on his face.
"I might be able to help you with that Master Bruce, but you'll have to be careful. You can't put yourself in harms way."
"I know Alfred, but I want to pay that guy back. He saved me, so I want to make the city safer like he does."
"Well, I'll train you, but let's wait till you're a little older before you start fighting criminals." Alred said, smiling.
A couple and their son are walking down Crime Alley, heading home, when they are suddenly stopped by a thug, who intends to mug them.
Batman drops down onto the thug, knocking him out. After escorting the family home, and bringing the thug to GCPD, he accesses his com device.
"Alfred, I just had a bit of deja vu, and it reminded me of something. What ever happened to the Gotham Knight?"
"Records show that he disappeared around the time you started your work, Master Bruce. Perhaps he felt like he had found a successor and was no longer needed."
"I wonder where he is now. I never did get to thank him for what he did for me."
"I'm sure he knows Master Bruce. You're continuing his work after all." Alfred replied, looking down at the scar across his palm.
I know it's probably not that good, but oh well. As always, thanks for reading, and review if you want. Always happy to hear what you guys think.
