"Ghosts That We Knew" (A Significant Change of Heart)
One fine morning he tugged on her hair
She screamed in reply and crushed his glasses
Though he thought that they would make a fine pair;
She hated him more than flying classes
During first year he started his torture
It persisted for almost seven years
Finally, he pulled off a real "scorcher;"
And caught sight of what could only be tears
For her, that night, he decided to change
He was kind, sweet - obviously keen
Her feelings changed so fast that it was strange
They were married by the age of nineteen
The outcome of their love was widespread peace
Thanks to their son Harry, love would not cease.
Coincidentally, I had a project due for English on October 31st. As happenstance made it, I was to write a sonnet based on my favourite famous couple. So, honestly, who else would I have chosen?! Only after I finished the writing of this poem did I realize that it was, in fact, the day that the Potters died. This is in honour of them, their son, and the story by J.K. Rowling that changed my entire life.
Hopefully you will enjoy this (despite the little rhyming skill that I posses)! As always; kind criticism is more than welcome. xxx
