"Hey, Iruka. I was thinking…"
"If it's perverted, just stop right there."
"No, for once my thoughts are pure. Mostly." Kakashi chuckled.
"Fine. What is it?"
"I was thinking that you need a pet name."
"Really now?"
"Yup! Something cute."
Iruka stopped what he was doing and joined his boyfriend on the couch.
"Something cute, huh? What have you come up with so far?"
"Quite a few actually, want me to run them by you?"
"Go ahead."
"How about… RuRu?"
"…"
"Okay, Ruki?"
"No."
"Aww… I liked that one. Okay. How about Ruki-Ru?"
"How about no?"
"So mean. How about Ruki-kins?"
Iruka only stared blankly at him.
"Okay. Those aren't working. How about Ruka? It's short, simple and I find it kind of cute."
"Hmm… Ruka. I kind of like it."
"I like it too, Ruka."
"Hmm. I like the way that sounds."
"Me too. Hey, wait a minute."
"What is it now?"
"Do I get a pet name too?"
"Of course you do, love. How about Kashi? There isn't really much we can do with your name, but I like Kashi."
"Kashi... Oh, Ruka, I love it!" Kakashi said, wrapping his arms around Iruka in a bear hug.
Iruka chuckled. "I'm glad you do. Now come on, dinner's ready."
Kakashi planted a soft kiss on Iruka's lips. "I love you Iruka."
"I love you too Kakashi."
Kakashi's hold tightened on his dolphin. "My Ruka." He sighed.
Iruka smiled and nuzzled Kakashi's neck. "My Kashi." He said dreamily. He realized he liked the sound of that.
The two love birds stayed there, snuggling on the couch, their dinner forgotten for the moment.
