The Farm
The world is big and round
God put upon it people
As a farmer sows wheat.
At first, that was all there was
In the field, in the world
But it did not stay that way.
The king of evil came
The farmer's enemy
Intending to undo the good that had been done.
He came into the field,
his own seeds of weeds
To grow among the wheat.
The weeds are the sons of the evil one
Among the people God created.
They grew together, side by side.
The farmer soon saw what His enemy had done
His servant came and asked Him,
"LORD, Shall we pull the weeds up?"
"No," God said, "for if you do
You might pull up the wheat as well,
undoing all that I have accomplished."
So the wheat and weeds
were in the world together
A mass of good and bad.
Strong wheat overshadowed weeds
Killing them
and strong weeds did the same.
Finally, the day of the harvest came,
The end of the age
Both wheat and weeds were collected.
First the weeds were removed,
and God ordered them to be burned
All the evildoers were destroyed.
Then the wheat was
collected and brought into
the Master's barn:
The Kingdom of Heaven.
Unlike plants, people can change.
You can be wheat or weed.
Your choice.
