It had all been but five years...
a small young child ran through the thicket in the dense forest not far from Izumo. He stood no more than two and a half to two feet tall in height and had round light chocolate eyes and matching short choppy hair. On his small frame, he wore a simple pair of shorts and a shirt.
The morning breeze blew in his face, sending the tears that fell from his eyes into the air, evaporating moments later. His hands were curled into small fists as his bare feet pushed into the mud, forcing himself to keep running. He could hear the screams and shouts of the other boys that chased after him and it forced him to push harder, run faster. He closed his eyes, screwed them shut and ran.
He needed to get home. He needed to go to the only place they wouldn't go. He opened his eyes and looked over his shoulder, seeing their outlines in the forest, parting the branches and getting closer. He wasn't going fast enough!
Suddenly, the ground gave way beneath him and he found himself falling. He yelped in surprise and rolled down the steep hill, curling up to decreased the damage do his body as the branches snapped at him before he dropped a meter into a freezing pool of water and mud. The surface of the water leveled and a second later he came up for air, gasping. His body went into shock at the sheer coldness of the water before he crawled, more like doggy paddled out of the water. He got to the small sandbar where he dropped onto his hands and knees. He couldn't move. His body wouldn't let him. He almost cried out in sheer pain from the large gash going across his leg. His arms shook and he collapsed, exhausted. He curled into a ball, shivered, breathed into the wet sand, narrowed his eyes.
He stared for the longest moment, just listening to the boys who came looking for him, calling out his given nickname. "Demon Boy! Demon Boy!" it was so annoying. so... gah. He could hear their footsteps get closer and closer and their screams getting louder until he was sure that any minute one of them would peak their head over the cliff and see him. He was so sure of it.
But nothing came. It got silent. Extremely so and he opened his eyes -briefly, he wondered when he had closed them- and he found a long haired man with dark brown eyes and hair looking down at him. The unbuttoned black cotton shirt revealed his firm chiseled chest and his beige pants hung off his hips. In his arms was a big fluffy white towel. The man crouched down and picked him up, wrapping him up in the warm towel and cradling him against his chest. He automatically leaned his head against the mans shoulder and closed his eyes, trying to control his shivering.
He always came to the rescue. He didn't know how, but he would always find him and bring him home. It's like the man had some sort of GPS unit just for him. But he took comfort in the fact that the man always found him.
After all... the man was his father.
'Rayne...' the man chided softly, almost knowingly.
'I know...' the boy mumbled jectedly, falling deathly silent after that as his father carried him home...
My Name is Rayne Asakura... I am the offspring to my mother, Hanaka Kaiya and Asakura Yoh, the Shaman King. I am five years old and I am one of the worlds most wanted criminals...
