Hello, everyone, and thanks for checking out my first fic! Well, specifically, it's a short songfic.. And I'm not the best writer, I know, but I do hope you enjoy this.
Disclaimer: I don't own the game or anime School Days, nor do I own the song 'To the Other Side of Sorrow/Kanashimi no Mukou he'. I merely wrote this fic.
-To the Other Side of Sorrow-
Heavy panting. Thoughts that no one could ever comprehend. A staircase that seems as endless as these sorrows. But at the top, there is a guarantee of rest. An eternal rest.
A rest called death...
'If I can make my way to the other side of sorrow
Then I don't need warmth or tomorrow anymore.'
Pressing on, I begin to lose focus. Memories flooding my head, I remember they way things once were. Precious memories of a love. An eternal love.
Makoto, my love…
'The dream that landed in the darkness of silence.'
I feel breath, and I know it is my own, but it reminds me of…
'Who…? Is the light that briefly spilled on my cheeks.'
Makoto. I remember the way it was. So, now…
'Why…? Without knowing the method to stop an all too fragile world.'
Some said we are too young to understand love. But I didn't care, nor, it seemed, did you, my love. Remembering all of those warm, summer nights that I laid in your arms…
'I was simply wishing, that's right, for oblivion
If I can make my way to the other side of sorrow.'
Then, I realize, I'm at the top. I look down, one final time, upon the town. I feel a chill rushing through my veins, a mix of excitement and the cold winter air… And the site of you two, standing together at the bottom…
'Then I'd like to not feel anything beyond this anymore
Why…? The repeating words, the collapsed promise.'
Thinking of our trio's past, I reach into my pocket, taking out my cell phone. I open it, looking at the wallpaper. A photo, which Kokoro had snuck one of those summer nights, of us, Makoto… undressed and in bed.
Then I throw it to the city below. I hear it break as it hits the ground, almost directly in front of you two…
'Echoed conspicuously and beautifully, and now, severed
Will you return to the other side of despair?'
Closing my eyes and turning my back, a faint smile forms on my lips. My destination is clear…
'The utmost love entrusts its unblemished body to the eternal sail
If I can make my way to the other side of sorrow.'
Gravity follows the commands of the gods, pulling me down.
To you, one final time...
'Then I won't even fear the lonely slumber anymore…'
-FIN-
Well, that's it for now. Please review! I'd truly appreciate constructive criticism, but flames will be used… um… to burn Katsura's body!
