AN: In celebration of Luffy's birthday (today, the fifth of May) I've decided to post this poem.
He is a man who is more than a man.
He is a Captain, a friend, a brother, a rival, a threat and a King. The King. He dresses in clothes the same red as blood and the same blue as the sea with a sash of gold tied 'round his waist. And above it all his head is laurelled with a crown of straw that shines like gold and rubies aglow.
He is a man who is more than a man.
He is a man with friends, a man with brothers, a man with rivals, a man with family and a man with a promise. He shouts to the sky and laughs at the wind. He embraces the rain and he channels the sun.
He is a man who is more than a man.
He is a man to love and a man to hate. He is a man who loves but rarely hates. But hates he does and the ones he hates they will eventually drown in dread. Loss and love he knows too well, but love will always lead to his loss.
He is a man who is more than a man.
He is a man of the sea and a man without fear, a man who will save but ask naught in return though a man who will always ask your friendship before declaring you his rival. He forgives but he does not forget if you are worth forgiving, but if are you not you will drown the same way as those he hates.
He is a man who is more than a man.
He is a man called a boy but a man none the less. Half-witted he may be but a fool he is not for he is as wise as the Robin that trills in tree tops.
He is a man who is more than a man.
His crown is his promise and promised he has, to a father who isn't a father and two brothers who aren't his brothers. For even though none are bound by blood they are bound by the bond of fatherhood and of brotherhood.
He is a man who is more than a man.
He is a conqueror who does not conquer though it lives in his title and in his spirit. He lives on adventure and rides on the sea with the spirit of Armament, of Observation and that of a Conqueror. Yet he lives by no code because a code he has not for his judgement is always enough.
He is a man who is more than a man.
He is a man without faith but still faith he has; a faith in his comrades strong as his trust. If he gives you his word then the deed will be done for he will never betray you even if he must.
He is a man who is more than a man. He is a King.
