Dear Peeta

I would like to say all of this in person but I fear I'm too much of a coward. You see, the moment I see you I have to struggle to even speak coherently so how would you expect me to actually tell you how I feel?

Usually, I'm the one in charge as I know you know. There must be a reason why you have called me "Katniss the Impetuous" or "Katniss the Warrior" when we play our video games. One day you actually told me I must be so intimidating for some people. Fortunately, I'm not intimidating to you, after all, you have managed to defeat me a couple of times since we began playing.

The thing is, there's just something about your presence, the inherent goodness you carry in you, the way your blue eyes seem to sparkle but at the same time look right though me, not as if you're staring into my soul but more as if you wouldn't hurt it if I bared it open to you. If I showed you what I'm made of, I like to think you wouldn't crush it.

Look at me, such a romantic right? However, I just can't take that risk. How am I supposed to gamble with something that once was so precious to me? Now, I'm not brave enough to put it out there for the entire world to see because what little is left of my damaged soul must be safe, otherwise, I would crumble. Anyways, I see it in your eyes: you deserve so much better.

Meanwhile, I'll keep going to your bakery with our friends every now and then and we'll play video games until one of us falls asleep. You'll keep trying to defeat me and I'll keep crushing you until you manage to amaze me with one of you well thought strategies.

I'll write you letters you'll never read. It's safer that way.

Bye

Katniss.

Katniss folded the later carefully and put it back with the other three she had written so far, at least she managed to put in pen what she wouldn't say.

She sighed and switched her username in the game to online. Merely 5 minutes later, as she was deciding between a bow and a knife to be her weapon for the night she received an invitation from Peeta. "Are you game?" said the text. She smiled, picked the bow and began to plan her strategy, at least this she could do.

Hi guys! This is my first Hunger Games story. I'm not pretty sure if I want it to be a one shot or if I'll continue with it so I would love to read what you think! Thanks! Hugs!
