A/N: Hey everyone! It's been quite awhile since I released anything Kantai related, so finally here something that all of you might want to give a read! I know this might sound weird but I got this idea from a dream I recently had. It's been stuck in my head for the past couple of days. So I really hope you enjoy this story!

This is kind of an indirect sequel to The Angels of our Future story. But only about 1 or 2 characters will be related. So don't expect this to be alot like it. Also I do apologize in advance for such a short prologue. But I just felt that this moment needed to be its own chapter. So i'll try to make Chapter 1 atleast 5,000 words long. But still think of this as a teaser for what's to come.

Prologue

Rest Easy Sailors

August 25th, 2024

Northern Mariana Islands

7th Fleet, USN: USS John F. Kennedy

"S-Sir!" A man stammered out as he ran onto the bridge of the heavily damaged aircraft carrier. He looked around, soot & dried blood covered his slightly tanned face. A trickle of blood ran down barely missing his light yellow-greenish colored eyes. His battered and torn multicam uniform covered by his exoskeleton and plate carrier. But just as the man ran in another figure walked in behind him. She had short purple hair and yellow eyes. She wore a torn up cardigan over a battered school uniform with a necktie and thigh highs. Along with a torn up eyepatch covering her left eye.

Both scanned the bridge until their eyes landed on the commanding officer. He was busy helping up an injured woman, as he heard them rush to the bridge. He slightly turned his head, before both of his eyes widen, quickly realizing who they were, "Lieutenant Renton? Tenryuu? What's going on, why aren't you with- Dammit, Radio the Texas and tell them to provide fire support for the Chinese carriers!" He yelled out as rocket impacted right next to the tower of the carrier.

Just outside of the John F. Kennedy's bridge, a massive battle raged on. Militaries from all over the world had brought all their available support together to strike at the capital of the Abyssal forces. After years of fighting the enemy, this was their endgame. It was do or die, everything relied on them to win this fight. If they failed here...then mankind would surely face extinction Warships from different nations fought side by side, as jets & drones filled the sky. Ship Girls as well from every corner gathered with their national counterparts. All fought for one goal. Destroying the Abyssals once and for all.

The man now known as Lieutenant Renton took a deep breath as he took off his helmet and ruffled his dark brown hair, "Iron's...We just received radio conformation from the Pentagon, they want us to flatten the island. Hammerdown protocol. All national governments confirm this as well…" He revealed, gripping his side. Tenryuu quickly supported him up, as he stared at the CO.

"No." The man now revealed to be named Irons said in an instant. Shaking his head, "We can't do that. Your Seal team & the Marines are still on that island."

Renton nodded & clenched his fist, "They know that sir…I know that...Commander Housley ordered it himself. Midway Hime is about to open the vault again. If she does that, then...then all the abyssals will be able keep this war going with much needed support from the other side. He's right. It's the only way. He sent Tenryuu & I back just encase the transmission didn't go through." He informed the man. A painful & sorrowful expression flashing across his face. He was the only one sent back….no one else from his team.

"Dammit!" The Irons shouted, walking over to a console just as a destroyer next to the carrier erupted into a massive explosion as abyssal bombers struck it's magazine.

Tenryuu gripped Renton's shoulder, before moving forward, "Sir I know it's not my place to say anything but Kurt would want us-"

"I know….I know what he'd want to do. I served with him remember?" Iron's asked, with a saddened smirk, before walking over to his fleet wide radio. He looked back towards Renton & Tenryuu, "I should be the one to make the call anyway. I've been with him since he was five." He added, before taking a deep breath, and audibly swallowing. Clutching onto the radio, as began to speaking every fleet in a commanding manner, "All ships! All ships! Attention all available ships in the coalition. We have just received a strike package ordered from Seal Team Saber, from inside the abyssal HQ. All available…" Irons cut off for a second, as he gripped the desk, trying to get himself to say it...after another moment of thought the man made up his mind & went through with it, "Everyone, fire off everything you have at the Abyssal HQ...If we don't then the Abyssals will open up the Mariana portal once more...just like in 2004. We'll lose everything we've gained, think of your families, think of your children, your mom's, your dad's, your siblings. What we do here will define mankind for the rest of history. This...is all we have left. So think of all that and on my signal fire everything on that island!" He shouted out, before pausing again.

Irons looked at towards the island, watching a column of yellow smoke arise from the center of the island. No doubt the Seal Teams signal. A lone tear fell down the man's cheek, as he began to speak again, "Commander Housley ...if you can hear us, you & your team have made us all proud. I'm sure if Kaga or your mom were still with us they'd say the same. Godspeed Kurt. You are all heroes to mankind….We will remember you." He said before looking back to Tenryuu & Renton.

"Do it." Tenryuu nodded.

Iron's nodded, before making the final order, "All ships! Fire! Fire! Fire! Everything you have! Ship girls, defend our vessels until that island is gone! We do this to end the war! Everyone hit it with everything you got!" He shouted, as the hundred of ships surrounding the island began to open up. A hail of explosive ordnance soon began to pound the island. As both drones & aircraft too hit the HQ. Within the first minture the once proud Abyssal capital had been reduced to nothing but flaming ash. Then after another ten seconds, as the final bombs dropped the remains quickly & violently sunk into the ground. Falling into the underwater cavern. Causing an even bigger explosion, rocking all the ships intensively as the pressure wave blasted past them.

"My god…." Iron's gulped as his eyes widen, watching the massive display of firepower. But also realizing what he had just done….Killing one of closest things he had to a son. It wasn't right….

Meanwhile behind the man Renton clenched his teeth, he had too look away when they fired. That was his team that had just died. Sure he might've been the newest member, but still they treated him like family. It was wrong that he didn't go out with the rest of them, "Renton...I'm sorry." Tenryuu said, rubbing his shoulder. A few tears streaming down her own cheeks. This was a hollow victory. Nothing to be proud of for the people who were there. Who knew they had to sacrifice to much to reach this point.

The comms quickly began to crackle to life as cheers could all be heard all across the net, "Confirmation that the HQ has been destroyed! All non-humanoid Abyssals are going offline! As well as Abyssal satellite scrambles! They did it!" A woman's voice cheered across the radio.

Renton closed his eyes before stuttering, "Yeah they really did it…" He gulped, before turning away from the bridge, stepping out from the compartment as he fished into his pocket. The young seal pulled out a few dogtags. Looking at each name while trying not to tear-up, "Rest easy...sailors...we're safe now."

Rest easy...sailors...

A/N: Done & done with the prologue! Again I apologize that this was so short. I can promise you that chapter 1 will be much longer then this!

Also If any of you are confused by this prologue then go over to my other Kantai collection story which has sadly been abandoned because of disinterest & time constraints. Author question: Now that the Abyssal threat has been eliminated, what will the Ship Girls be used for? How will the world react?
