It was a bitter cold day at the school of Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Most of the students were inside, enjoying a warm pumpkin juice or a hot cup of tea. Snow had covered the ground most of the plant life had begun to die. Still that didn't seem to phase the one young man that was walking around the school grounds. His jacket pulled tightly around him, he just walked. From a distant out looker it would seem that the boy had no place to really go. But to the young boy known as Harry Potter, he had miles until he got to his distention.
Many gears seemed to been turning in Harry's head, Not knowing were his feet were taking him, he just walked. Not aware of the bitterness of the cold, he walked. He couldn't stand being in the school anymore. Surrounded by cute happy couples, he felt his heart hit the floor each and every day. Knowing that Ron and Hermione would never let him feel like this, he never told them. He never told anyone, just himself. He wanted to tell himself that he started feeling like this, they day that Cho betrayed the D.A., the day that she betrayed him. But he knew that was a lie. He felt this way a long time before then, and even though he loved Cho with his whole heart-at least he thought he did. Something inside was missing.
He didn't understand what was wrong with him; he had his friends who were basically his family. To everyone he was "the boy who lived" or "the golden boy". Not many people saw him, as he was, a boy. And even before things got bad with Cho, he had her. But he just felt lonely. He felt as if every pleasant emotion was a lie. Every smile was a fake, and every laugh was controlled by a puppet master.
Harry eventually found himself at the lake, he had no so fond memories here. Memories of a contest that he didn't even what to be in. It all seemed as if everything was already decided for him, nothing was his for the choosing He finally thought that he had a choice in something, love.
He had never met anyone more beautiful in his life, and was terrified that he would never actually tell her how he felt. Finially he did, and after a while she came around. It seemed like for once, he was able to push aside those feelings of being alone. But that only lasted for so long. Eventually he began to cling, somewhat like a shirt to another in a dryer. And she began to push away. Till eventually she was the one that became his Judas.
Looking out over the calming water, he felt almost at piece. The only thing that seem to calm him on nights like this was the water. He stood against a tree, and sighed. Almost smiling he stared out into the night.
He was so caught up in the moment that he didn't hear the footsteps behind him or the whispers that the footsteps came with.
"Harry.. what are you doing out here by yourself on a freezing night?" Hermonie said rubbing Harry's are
Harry who was very startled replied with "oh, it's nothing. Just needed to get away."
"Well you gave us a fright mate." Ron said eyeing Harry.
" I said I was fine.. lets go back to the castle." Harry said forcing a smile.
Ron and Hermonie never saw that Harry's smile was forced thanks to the darkness of the night. They just trusted their friend and followed on his heals back towards the school. Harry thankful that his secret was safe another day. No one would ever know of his intense loneliness
