Author's Note: I just want to get rid of this damn author's block so here have some Vatonageshipping couple fluff.
When it came to Kate, Keith was willing to do most anything. And why wouldn't he? For his girlfriend of (he frequently bragged) eight months, the redhead would gladly fight any man, cross any raging river, climb any ragged mountain. Why, when it came to being a boyfriend, Keith considered himself to be the best at any task!
Except this one.
"Why am I here, again?"
"I told you," Kate repeated, "I needed new clothes, and I didn't want to go alone? Besides, you said you were free today! Why are you complaining so much?"
Keith only grumbled in response. Sure, he'd said he was free—but that was when he'd been assuming she had been inviting him to do something fun. Like going rock climbing, or racing bikes, or just sitting around her apartment playing video games and making out.
Not shopping.
"Keith," his girlfriend's voice brought him out of his reverie, "what do you think of this one?" She was holding up a white blouse—nothing fancy, just a simple short sleeved number with a laced collar. That was something he'd always found interesting about the girl, Keith thought amusedly. She was a plain Jane, through and through. The only bright color you'd ever see her in would be the red on her face when he teased her.
Just barely biting back his would-be retort of 'how the hell should I know?', he instead replied, "Looks good. You gonna try it on?"
"Mm," Kate mused. "I don't know… should I? I mean, I always get edgy trying things on in a store…"
Ah, finally. An opening for some fun. A sly grin wormed its way onto Keith's face.
"Then, want me to come with you?" He suggested, leaning down next to her cheek. "I mean, you'll still need someone's opinion when you try it on…" he blew into her ear. "...And I wouldn't object to helping you undress."
And lo and behold, there it was! In the space of all but three seconds, the brunette's face bloomed into a glorious crimson shade, the very color that gave Keith hope in such a bleak time as this. "I-I—" Kate stammered, her grip on the clothing tightening. "T-that's, u-um…"
"…A yes?" Keith prodded. Kate flushed even more, her face reddening further.
"O-of course not! Quit fooling around, Keith!" she huffed, turning away and walking towards the changing rooms. "I'm going to try it on, and you will stay out here. Try and find some other stuff for me, please?"
"Yeah, yeah," Keith waved her off, chuckling. Well, if he got to spend some time with her, then he supposed it wasn't a total waste.
