A/N: Created this drabble for the Captain Swan Secret Shipmates event that was held during the Once Upon a Time three month long hiatus. (Pure agony! *sobbing*) My Secret Shipmate was finsandseashells.
I had come up with this idea sometime last year but real life became to busy and it went to the back of my mind. Then I thought this was the perfect time to write something on it! Enjoy! =)
"Don't say I didn't warn you." Emma said glancing down at her feet for a moment before looking back up and staring Killian dead straight in the eyes. "I'm pregnant."
"What?" Killian questioned, clearly not quite believing the words that had just come out of her mouth. "Surely, you're jesting Emma." He stared at her face looking for any sign of deceit and when he realized that Emma was indeed telling the truth, Killian sat down on the chair behind him.
"You won't have to worry; I'm more than capable of taking care of this child on my own." Emma quickly averted her gaze, not wanting to look him in the eye any longer. There was so many years Emma had been alone looking out for no one but herself; protecting her heart from being hurt again. It was only now that she had started to get used to having Killian around. Their relationship had progressed so much over the past year and no one had put her first before aside from David and Mary Margret. So having someone who cared for her so deeply as Killian did was a change; A change for the better.
"Would you honestly believe that I would leave you with this on your own lass?" Killian's words broke Emma from her thoughts.
There was disappointment and disbelief on his face and Emma wished that she could have taken what she had said back. "I... I'm not even sure what I do believe right now."
"I can assure you Emma that I would never leave my child with the same fate that I was left with." Standing up from the chair Killian reached out his hand to grab Emma's. "I won't abandon you love."
Emma couldn't bring herself to look back up at him, there was no doubt in her mind that her words pierced his soul and that was the last thing she had ever wanted to do. But despite all they had been through she deeply loved him.
Killian pulled Emma closer and gently placed his hand on her cheek. "My dear, I love you - more than I have ever loved anyone in my life. You saved me from myself and helped me understand that I could care for someone again. If it wasn't for you - god knows where I would be now."
"David is going to kill you." Emma chuckled, imagining her father chasing Killian around town sword in hand. Not my daughter! He'd holler at him waving his sword about. And then later when Mary Margaret talked some sense into him, David and Killian would go back to sharing stories about their youth and clinking their beer or rather their rum glasses together.
"We'll break the news to him gently," A large grin spreading across his face. "It would be rather difficult to change a nappie if I lost my other hand."
The grin disappeared from his face just as quickly as it appeared, his glare becoming more serious. "I'll gladly change every one if I could name the babe."
Emma looked up at his face and smiled; Killian was an honourable man - a man with a code. Good Form she had often heard from him, words that clearly had meant a lot to him in the past and so much so now. "Of course Killian, I know how much family means to you."
"Meredith." Killian murmured softly , the name was barely a memory now but he spoke of it with such fondness. "After my mum or Liam after my brother."
Emma smiled, leaning up to kiss Killian's cheek. "They're perfect."
