Prologue

I look over my shoulder. Dark shadows and old trees look back at me. A shiver runs down my spine. I pick up my pace and rush through the woods with my Boston terrier, Tales, following me. I can't believe I was so stupid to fall asleep by the lake in the woods. Ofcourse the battery of my phone died, so I don't even know what time it is. But according to the moon it is way past sunset, which means I have been in the woods for over 5 hours. It isn't unusual for me to hide away in the woods for a couple of hours, but I've never stayed after sunset. You just never know who hides in the shadows.

The moment I see my car at the edge of the woods, I slow down to a more normal pace. I reach into my bag, grasping for my keys.

Ugh. Ofcourse I can't find them at a moment like this.

I stop to look into my bag. After a few seconds I find my key and open my old beetle. Tales jumps in and takes place at the passenger seat. I get in, close the door and start the engine. Suddenly Tales start to growl, looking into the woods. I try to see what he is growling at, but only see shadows moving. The same feeling as before comes back and I quickly drive away from the woods.

The further away we get from the woods the more comfortable I feel. I turn on the radio and start singing along with Dotan's song; 'Home'. The street lights flash by and cars start to fill the road. The moment I drive into the city I feel more save.

I've had the feeling of someone watching me for a while now, though I am not sure where it came from. I am just another normal 20 year old, nothing special. No reason for anyone to stalk me or something.

Stop being so damn paranoid. There is no reason for you to be that way. You don't want to go that road. You have to stay normal and quit being paranoid if you don't want to end up like mom. I think to myself.

I sigh. Don't get me wrong, I really do love my mom, it is just a long, long story.

After singing along with a few more songs and driving through the busy streets of the city I turn right into my street. I park my car on the left side of the road and get out. After Tales jumps out of the car, I lock it and start crossing the street. Absentmindedly, still thinking about the feeling I had in the woods.

Tales barks.

I look up.

A white light stares me in the eyes.

And then everything goes black.

Let me know what you think!
